–Miss me already, darling?
Alina's voice came before even the ringing lasted for a second, like she was waiting. Her playful edge only made my brows knit.
"Yes, actually." I replied, leaning against the rusted doorframe and staring out at the waves. "The location is ten times worse than the brief suggested."
–You approved it.
I could almost hear the smirk on her face.
"I approved the concept, not this place. And, um..." I trailed off, my eyes scanning the horizon.
–What?
Her tone shifted instantly; the playfulness replaced her seriousness, and I didn't hesitate.
"There's an inspection agent coming." They said an agent of Kingsley is accompanying them. But they didn't notify J&K.
"I called the control office. Do you know about it?"
–No.
There was a long pause as I heard the clicking of the pen.
–It seems my uncle is involved.
She said finally.
My stomach tightened.
I knew something was amiss. Without noticing Alina, it was obvious their target was me.
