Zoey was pressed against the metal wall. Her chin was caught in long jade fingers, forced upward. Her lips pressed into the tall woman's lips.
It wasn't mutual. It didn't need a second look to know that. Was this what Zoey had meant by something personal?
"What are you doing, Miss Cross?" I stepped forward instinctively, anger flaring up my spine.
Raven Queen broke the kiss as she let her chin go, breaking the contact cleanly. Zoey slipped free from under her, stepping in front of me.
"It's okay, Andrea. It's just a misunderstanding." Despite everything, Zoey spoke calmly.
My head turned toward her and back to Raven Queen.
For the first time since I'd met her, the actress was frozen. The flawless, impassive mask she wore had cracked, just slightly.
I frowned. What did she mean by misunderstanding? There was guilt written all over Raven Queen's face.
Zoey turned back toward her and bowed.
"I apologize, Miss Cross, but I can't reciprocate your feelings. I'm married."
