I stood my ground, watching the dozen people gather at the entrance of the warehouse. Two of them positioned themselves at the front. One wore the uniform of the civil authorities, posture stiff and practiced.
The other was a woman in a sharply tailored black suit. It was different from normal formal wear with a capital K on her breast pocket.
"This site is unauthorized," the man in uniform announced, his voice loud enough to carry across the open space. "You are to cease all filming and clear the floor immediately."
Even as he spoke, his hand lifted slightly, already signaling the people behind him to move.
"Stop!" I stepped forward before anyone else could react. "We have a dual-signed permit from the municipal board and Kingsley's internal board of directors. On what legal basis are you disrupting our production?"
I kept my gaze on the man, but my awareness stayed fixed on the woman at his side, who had yet to speak about shutting the production down.
