Todd's POV
The night had spiraled completely out of control, and by the time Sallie and I made it home, exhaustion should've knocked us both out cold. But sleep wasn't happening—not for either of us.
I could tell something was eating at Sallie. Every time she closed her eyes, she'd tense up, like her mind was replaying scenes she couldn't shake. Finally, she broke the silence.
"That Denzel guy..." She trailed off, searching for the right words.
My chest tightened. I'd been waiting for this question, dreading it. "Do you know him?"
She shook her head, but her brow furrowed. "He just... there's something familiar about him." Her voice carried confusion, like her body was remembering something her mind couldn't quite grasp.
The whole thing struck me as bizarre. How could Sallie possibly have any connection to Denzel?
