Sandy's POV
I drifted through an endless void, suspended in perfect darkness.
For the first time in my existence, I had found what I craved most. Peace. Complete and absolute nothingness surrounded me, offering refuge from pain, fear, and endless worry.
Here, I could simply exist without burden or care. I was finally free. My mind was blissfully empty.
But my sanctuary didn't last long.
A crimson thread of light emerged from the blackness, moving toward me with deliberate intent. I jerked away, panic rising as the glowing cord began to coil around my form.
It wound itself around my waist first. Then my legs. My arms followed.
The thread's sharp tip emerged before my face, hovering momentarily before plunging straight into my chest.
Agony exploded through me. This wasn't physical pain, not the kind that came from wounds or broken bones.
