Sandy's POV
Someone cleared their throat behind us, breaking the spell.
Charles pulled away reluctantly, his breath still warm against my lips. His dark eyes held mine, pupils dilated with desire that made my pulse race.
I should have been angry. Should have pushed him away and maintained some dignity. Instead, I found myself leaning into him, my lips burning from his touch.
"If you two are finished with your little display, we have business to discuss." Joseph strolled into the kitchen and dropped into the chair across from me, completely at ease.
"With me?" I glanced at him, eyebrows raised in surprise.
"Absolutely." He nodded, reaching for a piece of toast from the plate. His casual demeanor felt oddly threatening.
I turned to Charles, searching his face for answers. He made a subtle gesture, and Dorothy quickly excused herself from the kitchen, leaving the three of us alone.
