"Knowledge of golemancy, I don't feel like I have any! DAMN IT!"
After 5 minutes of agony, feeling as if his brain was being dissected to force a large amount of knowledge into it, Adam lay on the floor drenched in sweat, trying to catch his breath. Adam sat up to organize the new knowledge that had been forcibly injected into his brain.
"Thanks a lot for the crash course, which can be summed up as stuffing a ton of elemental energy, life, and soul into an earthen construction and boom, you've got a golem," he thought, grunting and weakly getting to his feet.
Standing, but unsteady, Adam imagined a small earth doll appearing in his hand and used a minimum of energy he felt within him to create his work. Feeling a trickle of neutral energy leaving his body and then transforming into earth energy, he stared in amazement as the brown stream of light took shape in his hand, like a child watching his first magic show, smiling as he contemplated the magic of the scene.
"What the... what is this crap..." He sighed in disappointment.
A misshapen clay doll had appeared in his hand; one arm shorter than the other, ridiculously small legs, and a complete absence of a neck. It was a world apart from the human-looking clay doll of his imagination.
"Why are you so ugly? Never mind, we'll make do with you. RISE, CLAY SERVANT, AND JOIN YOUR MASTER IN CONQUERING THIS WORLD!" Screaming like a mad scientist, Adam watched as green and purple lights filled the doll.
Like an infant, it trembled slightly before taking its first unsteady step.
"IT'S ALIVE!"
Adam watched as the doll took a second step and collapsed headfirst, turning into a dull pile of dust.
"SHIT!"
Looking at the remains of his first creation, Adam sighed in disappointment. Despite the joy of having succeeded in creating a clay doll from almost nothing, albeit a misshapen one, and of having breathed life into it and made it take a single step, seeing it collapse into a pile of dust was heartbreaking. Thinking for a few seconds about the reason for his failure, he understood.
"Of course, I thought of too many shapes at once when I created it, so without a solid foundation to guide the energy, a chaotic assembly emerged. And for the rest, I injected so little life energy and soul that it was barely alive, with the same level of intelligence as a plant. Okay, round 2, this time a little more seriously!"
Taking a deep breath, Adam crouched down, held his hands out in front of him, and firmly imagined a golem built for battle, as solid as possible, and injected a good third of the energy reserve they felt within him into it.
The much more impressive light show slowly began to take the form of an earth golem.
Contemplating the stocky golem with thick limbs, Adam was proud. One meter tall, a gray rock body, a smooth face without any features or deformities, a true creation worthy of a golemancian.
Blowing a little, Adam injected a large amount of energy to bring it to life with the firm intention of making it a warrior ready to follow its master in exploring this new world.
After a few minutes, Adam watched his new creation slowly come to life.
Closing and opening its hands several times, the golem looked at Adam and then took a few steps to stand beside him without a hint of hesitation or clumsiness in its movements, which brought a big smile to Adam's face.
"Follow me." Giving the golem a simple command, Adam took a few steps forward and saw the golem follow him quietly.
Full of confidence in his new companion, Adam decided to explore his surroundings, starting by walking toward the tree they could see in the distance, a few dozen meters away.
Walking while turning around from time to time to check that the golem was still following him, Adam had a simple thought.
"You need a nickname, after all, you're my first golem, and your stillborn little brother doesn't count. It's a cruel world, you have to harden your heart. How about... Primo, since you're the first?" He scratched his chin. "Come on, let's go with Primo, you don't really have the choice anyway."
Walking towards the tree, Adam looked around him and all he saw were gently rolling plains stretching as far as the eye could see, full of grass and rare bushes, but nothing really remarkable that stood out.
As he approached the tree, he saw a small lake appear with a couple of flowers and bush filled with berries around it.
"Water, food, and a little friend—I'd say it's an easy start for survival. All that's missing is a little cabin beside the lake with a small fishing pier, and I can begin my spiritual retreat to become an immortal of the flying sword."
Suddenly, Adam saw the tall grass on one side of the lake rustle and tensed up. He watched as a rabbit the size of a calf bounded out of the grass, stared at him for a few moments, then bounded to the edge of the lake to drink. Adam swallowed hard.
"Damn, that thing's a rabbit! It's as big as you, Primo. We're not going to attack it, each in our own corner. We can easily share this lake."
Slowly approaching the lake in the hope of drinking some water himself, he didn't notice the rabbit raising its head and tensing as he got closer to the water. As he leaned down to drink, Adam heard a loud noise to his right and quickly turned his head. Just in time, he saw Primo step between the rabbit and himself, taking the rabbit's blow to the chest and sliding back a meter.
Stumbling backwards in surprise, Adam exclaimed, "Damn rabbit, attacking people by surprise is ugly, but no worries for tonight, rabbit leg is on the menu! Primo, beat him up!"
Listening to Adam, Primo charged towards the rabbit, which had retreated after its failed attack.
Attempting a clumsy blow that was easily dodged by the rabbit with a small jump, Primo found himself off balance. The rabbit made a violent leap, hitting Primo head-on, who flew violently through the air, fell to the ground, and rolled awkwardly, with rock fragments flying in all directions.
Primo slowly got up, staring at the rabbit. No sooner was he standing than the rabbit hit him again, repeating the same scene of rock fragments flying and Primo being sent tumbling shamefully to the ground.
The rest of the fight was just a repeat of the same events, with Primo getting up and the rabbit knocking him to the ground.
" Rock solid, yes, but not agile at all." Adam paled slightly as he looked at the one-sided fight in front of him, aware that if Primo lost, he would be next, and clearly not as solid as the golem, he had to act quickly.
