Chapter 32 - Win

Consequences??

You can only talk about consequences if you win. If you lose, what consequences are there to consider??

What's needed is action.

Either be screwed to death by Chaos, or screw Chaos to death.

Someone has to be pinned down and ravaged.

Guilliman certainly didn't want to be the one being ravaged.

"Thank you for your trust," the voice of Cawl's avatar rang out, a rare hint of emotional fluctuation in it.

"Is there any other news you need to tell me??" Guilliman asked.

"The Archmagos has recruited a suitable group of people, and they have begun research into supernatural powers. However, a contingent of Grey Knights who arrived at Macragge through a Warp storm oppose this.

They do not wish for any form of supernatural research to be conducted on Macragge, as it could easily lead to the corruption of the entire world."

"Grey Knights??" Guilliman pondered for a moment before looking up. "Their concerns are not unfounded, but research into supernatural powers is vitally important. The Warp has been constantly invading the real world, and we have too few means to deal with them.

For a long time, humanity has been in a state of passive defense. The worship of Chaos, in many cases, also stems from humanity's helplessness against Warp daemons."

Warp daemons possess a variety of incredible abilities and also have the characteristic of being immortal.

The fact that daemons harm humans is no secret.

Yet, countless people still worship the Warp and pursue daemons, which is something worth reflecting on.

Humans always have a very strange characteristic, which is to develop a sense of awe and inexplicable emotion towards things they cannot defeat, cannot cope with, and that harm them.

This is the so-called Stockholm Syndrome.

This syndrome appears, to varying degrees of severity, in those with weak wills and a lack of ability to distinguish right from wrong.

Children who are mentally abused by their parents but occasionally receive some rewards are often very filial.

In the workplace, many employees who are abused and manipulated by their bosses will, due to small favors, feel that the boss is good to them and believe that after half a lifetime of drifting, they have finally met a real role model.

There are many such situations.

Only those with strong minds who understand how to protect their own interests will avoid falling into such mistaken perceptions.

The same is true for daemons. Many people fear and are terrified of daemons, yet when daemons tempt them, they feel that daemons are very good.

Guilliman wants to change humanity, not just to change this cowardly nature of humanity, but also to break humanity's long-held perception of fearing daemons.

To let the citizens of the Imperium know that daemons can also die, that they can also feel fear, and that they fear annihilation.

Research into supernatural powers is essential.

Only by studying those supernatural powers can we understand the mechanism by which daemons corrupt humans and thus develop appropriate countermeasures.

"Move the supernatural research project to a sparsely populated planet, and at the same time invite the Grey Knights to be stationed there.

We cannot be completely ignorant of our enemies. If they refuse to carry out this order, then tell them it is the order of the Lord Regent of the Imperium and must be obeyed."

Guilliman said in a deep voice.

He would not compromise on this matter; research into supernatural powers must continue. Only by understanding the essence of daemons can there be hope of defeating the Warp.

"I will convey your thoughts," the Cawl avatar said. "From your technology, the Archmagos has found another viable path for interstellar communication, which is dark matter communication.

This technology will allow us to maintain faster-than-light communication without relying on the Warp.

However, the knowledge about dark matter in the technology you provided is too little. He asks if you have collected any related knowledge?"

"No, that technical knowledge is extremely precious, and I don't have much of it either," Guilliman shook his head. He couldn't possibly say that his cheat hadn't even unlocked the second stage yet!

It's best if only he knows about the cheat; there's no need to announce it to the whole world.

"The Archmagos' message to you ends here. I will now begin encoding your orders and sending them to the Archmagos.

You agree to him conducting more research on Space Marines and are willing to grant the corresponding authority, to relocate the supernatural research project to an uninhabited planet, and to invite the Grey Knights to be stationed there.

You also do not have the dark matter technical knowledge he needs."

"Please confirm the relevant information."

"Yes, that is the information," Guilliman said.

The sound of machinery operating started again, making crackling noises.

A simplified code would be generated and then sent to Macragge to be received by the Archmagos.

After completing the relevant work, the humming sound of the machine decreased, and the indicator lights flashing in the current and data pathways went out.

The head in the glass cabinet twitched one last time, its facial muscles relaxed, its eyes closed, and it lay quietly immersed in the golden nutrient solution.

The panel on the wall slid up, concealing the heads.

Everything returned to how it was when he entered.

Guilliman did not leave immediately but stood there, contemplating his next steps.

In the Ultramar Sector today, there are many lingering historical issues.

The invasion of the tyranids and orks left behind a large number of remnants, which are still active in various places.

Some necron dynasties have also reawakened near Ultramar.

These problems must all be resolved.

Only in this way can Guilliman secure a stable rear area to continuously provide him with sufficient troops and war machines.

Guilliman was not just thinking about the problems of Ultramar. However bad the situation here was, it would be restored to peace under his and other Imperial heroes' campaigns.

At most, it would only take half a year for all the battles in Ultramar to cease.

Guilliman's mind was more focused on other areas of the Imperium.

The Imperium divides the galaxy into several regions: the Halo Zone, the Obscurus Segmentum, the Ghoul Stars, Ultima Segmentum, the Eastern Fringe, the Pacificus Segmentum, the Tempestus Segmentum, and the Solar Segmentum.

The Halo Zone, Obscurus Segmentum, Ghoul Stars, and Eastern Fringe are all blocked from the light of the Astronomican by the Great Rift, forming the Imperium Nihilus.

Ultima Segmentum, where Ultramar is located, has also been affected by the Great Rift, with parts on this side of the Astronomican and parts on the Imperium Nihilus side.

Macragge was relatively lucky, being on the side illuminated by the Imperial Astronomican.

Although Warp travel on this side is difficult, it is still barely usable.

But Guilliman still felt a deep sense of crisis; relying on the Emperor's Astronomican for navigation was always precarious.

Humanity needed some completely new means to accomplish Warp travel and maintain the normal flow of Imperial shipping lanes.

Guilliman mentally filed away the things he needed to do.

First: Restore peace to the Ultramar Sector, implement his new system, and forge a logistics sector that provides continuous support.

Second: Find a way to travel smoothly through the Warp and enhance the mobility of Imperial forces.

Third: Support Cawl's research into mass production technology for Primaris Space Marines and dark matter communication technology.

Fourth: Build a powerful army for the Indomitus Crusade.

Fifth: Balance the old nobility and the new system, striving to implement his new system throughout the Imperium as quickly as possible.

Sixth: Find an opportunity to deal with other traitor primarchs, striking first.

Guilliman sorted through the recent events and listed his plans and goals.

The order of events is not based on priority, but merely assigned a number.

Guilliman cannot finish one thing before moving on to another.

It's not like playing a game where you can complete one task before the next.

Even if he wanted to, those traitor primarchs wouldn't let him follow his plan so methodically.

They would definitely pop up and cause trouble from time to time.

He could only continuously push forward with these plans and then deal with any potential accidents that might arise.

Speaking of which, Mortarion has already been provoked. I wonder if that guy has made a move yet.

According to the plot I know, that guy would definitely not be able to endure it and would make a move.

In reality, he was a bit unsure.

Unfortunately, there are no spies in the Warp, so there's no way to know the movements of the gods. Guilliman can only operate in the dark.

He had to find a way to solve this situation.

If daemons can support human traitors, why can't the Imperium support daemon traitors??

It is said that some Inquisitors cooperate with less malicious daemons in the Warp, hiring them to do their bidding in exchange for payment.

As the Lord Regent of the Imperium, Guilliman couldn't do such a thing; if it got out, his reputation would be ruined.

"I need to find a frontman," Guilliman stroked his chin. He had to find a few radical Inquisitors to serve him.

Otherwise, being completely blind to the enemies in the Warp was too difficult.

There are three branches of the Imperial Inquisition: the Ordo xenos, which deals with other races; the Ordo Hereticus, which deals with different beliefs within the Imperial cult; and the Ordo Malleus, which deals with the Warp.

Like the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Inquisition today also has conservative and radical factions.

The conservatives believe that all xenos and daemons should die, regardless of location, reason, or circumstance; they should be shot dead immediately.

The radicals believe that xenos and daemons should be categorized by threat level and that they should try to ally with lower-level threats to eliminate higher-level ones, and then eliminate the lower-level ones.

Guilliman felt he could probably make use of the radical faction.
