Chapter 4 - Lunatris Academy

"Where have you been?" a voice asked the moment Darius entered the mansion. Darius stared at the woman who stood in front of him.

It was Jezebel, His stepmother. She wore a white cloth which belonged to his late mother, anyone who saw her would think she was an angel but only darius knew that she was the devil herself.

Jezebel stood akimbo while a man he identified as his stepbrother sat on the couch watching their interactions.

His stepmother stared at him in a mix of disgust and anger. She stood akimbo and he could feel her brown eyes staring into his soul.

He suddenly felt afraid but he knew these feelings weren't his but those of the original owner. Darius felt pissed just by the sight of her.

He might have been poor but he had a little bit of ego. He remembered what the woman right in front of him had put the original owner through.

She gave him little food, little pocket money and she also allowed her son to beat him up.

"You should leave him alone Mom, dad is going to deal with him anyway," His step brother, Rook said with a smirk.

Rook adjusted his long brown hair while continuously staring at Darius with a smirk. Darius wanted nothing than to smack that smirk out of rook's face but he knew he as too weak to do that.

Rook was an elite, a null challenging an elite meant death. He clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white.

He felt a myriad of emotions -Fear, anger, Frustration. He sighed in realization, not only did he inherit Darius memories but he inherited his emotions too.

"He ruined dinner for us, he should have died in that match," his stepmother replied with a scoff.

"Go upstairs, your father wants to see you," his stepmother added as she eyed him.

Darius scoffed in disbelief, they talked about him like he wasn't a human with emotions.

"Did you just scoff?" Jezebel asked, she looked like she was ready to beat him up.

"And so what if I did Jezebel?" Darius asked in an emotionless tone. He stared at his stepmother who stared back at him in surprise. Neither Rook nor Jezebel expected him to talk back.

Rook stood up, with great speed he rushed towards Darius and grabbed him by the collar.

"It seems we've been lenient with you, otherwise why would a trash like you talk back," Rook said in anger.

"Says the dog who intends to replace me," Darius replied with a chuckle. Rook's mouth twitched.

"Your father is at home Rook, don't do anything stupid," Jezebel said in a hurry.

Rook stared at Darius, "I'm going to beat the shit out of you tomorrow,"

"Beat me now bastard, No matter how much you intend to beat me, you will never be me,"

"And why would my son want to be a trash like you," Jezebel said with a sneer. Darius smiled as he gently removed Rook's hands from his collar.

"Always remember Rook, my father might acknowledge you now but it wouldn't be the same in the future, after all, you are just a tool to enhance his status not his biological son," Darius said as he patted rook's cheek.

Rook's face turned red. He wanted nothing more than to beat the shit out of who stood in front of him but he knew he would get in trouble with his father.

"And you," he said staring at jezebel, "stop wearing my mother's things, it's irritating."

Darius turned around and walked towards his father's office. His lips curled into a smirk as he climbed the stairs, he could hear Rook and Jezebel cursing under their breath.

Darius stopped walking in front of a huge mahogany door, which was his father's office.

Suddenly, the door opened and the butler emerged from the other side.

"Sir," The butler called in surprise. Darius smiled.

"Your father is waiting for you," The butler said as he closed the door, " he is mad at you."

"That man is always angry," Darius murmmured, he resisted the urge to roll his eyes. He hadn't even spent 24hours in this world yet varoius people were already giving him headaches.

The butler didn't say a thing.

Sighing, Darius braced himself then knocked on the door.

"Come in," a voice said.

Darius opened the door then he entered slowly. His father was looking at the night view through a large transparent glass while drinking wine.

"You asked me to come here Father," Darius stated. His father turned around then set the wine he had drunk on his table.

Darius' father- Mr. Winslow smiled but it didn't reach his eyes.

He studied his father. His father wore a grey suit and his whole aura screamed dangerous.

At the age of 50, his father was still very handsome.

Darius shook his head, it was a pity that he had a father who cared more about power than family.

"I heard about your performance," Mr. Winslow said as he stared at his son.

Darius didn't say a thing rather he continued to stare at his father.

"Honestly, I'm quite surprised you survived," his father said with a smirk.

Darius stared at his father in trepidation. His father was too calm, just too calm.

According to his memories, his father should be throwing a mug at his head or something.

Jezebel had said his father was angry so why the hell was he calm?

"Did you want me to die?" Darius couldn't help but ask.

Mr. Winslow chuckled then walked towards Darius until there was just a little space between them.

"I'm afraid if you die, your mother's soul will curse me," he paused briefly then continued, "I went to where you fought, I thought you would die, thankfully you did not,"

Darius stared at his father in confusion, the man who stood in front of him did not match the behavior of the man in his memories.

"You passed the first entrance exam, congratulations," Mr. Winslow said. He walked towards the table then took a letter from it.

Darius collected the letter in confusion. Didn't he almost die, why the hell did he get accepted.

Suddenly, something dawned on him.

The fact that he passed didn't mean he had officially become a student. Lunatris had two entrance exams.

The first entrance exam had over 20,000 applicants and the second had just 1000 applicants. the funniest thing was only 300 students would be granted admission and only 80 were going to graduate.

Lunatris Academy was no place for a null to be.

"I'll give you a week to choose whether you want to go or not but I will advise you not to, going there as a null is a death sentence, your mother wouldn't want you to go there anyway,"

Darius clenched his fists, the more they called him a null, the more he wanted to prove them wrong.

He stared at the letter in his hands, he had once said he wanted to be a business man but right now he was having a change of heart.

He didn't want to be weak, he didn't want to be known as that null.

Yes, he wanted a good life but he didn't want to be weak and trampled upon just to survive. He had to become stronger.

"Why are you suddenly helping me this evening, you are usually not like this."

Mr. Winslow moved closer to him then suddenly he grabbed his neck.

"W-What are y-you doing?" Darius said as he struggled to breathe.

"My son doesn't look at me in the eyes and he wouldn't boldly ask me questions, to think you didn't even stutter while talking to me," Mr. Winslow said with a chuckle. His eyes were already turning gold.

For the first time since he transmigrated into this world, Darius felt true fear.

"Who are you and where is my son?"
