There are bad days, and then there are "system just told you to commit a felony" days.Guess which one I was having.
The glowing blue text still hovered in front of me like a divine prank.
[Main Mission: Use your unique skill. Objective: Have one or more of your family members ingest your seed. Reward: Unlock "Daily Missions" and "Stats."]
Yeah. Totally normal. Definitely not horrifying.
I groaned, rubbing my temples."System, you realize what you're asking me to do is useless? I understand the need for a tutorial like mission, but probably even without this I can take them to bed..."
[Clarification: The missions are like that for a reason.]
"Oh, well that's comforting." The worst part? It wasn't even joking.
For a few long minutes, I just sat there, staring at my reflection in the monitor — black hair slightly messy, dark circles under my eyes, and that faint blue glimmer in my pupils that reminded me I wasn't fully human."I survived thirteen years pretending to be normal," I muttered. "And now I'm supposed to turn into a hentai protagonist?"
But… ignoring a system mission wasn't an option. I knew that much.
So, I started thinking.
If the goal was to make someone ingest my seed… maybe if I mix it in a drink it will work?
The next morning, the Takamine kitchen was alive as always — clattering dishes, the smell of toast, Sayuri barking orders like a general.
And there I was, blending fruits in the corner like a mad scientist.
Ayame peered over my shoulder.
"Since when do you make smoothies?"
"Since… today," I said, forcing a grin. "I thought I'd make something healthy for everyone."
Sayuri narrowed her eyes. "What's the catch?"
"No catch! Just… vitamins, energy, happiness, you know, milk."
She crossed her arms. "You're suspicious."
I turned, holding up the blender with mock pride. "Behold, the Takamine Special. Strawberry, banana, honey… and milk..."
Ayame leaned closer, sniffing. "Smells normal enough."
"That's because it is normal," I lied, flashing a confident smile that screamed trust me, I'm lying.
I poured the pink liquid into three glasses and slid them across the counter.
Ayame raised an eyebrow. "You're seriously making us drink your experiments?"
"Exactly! Family bonding!"
Sayuri frowned, arms still crossed, but the smell of fresh fruit eventually won her over."You're weird," she muttered, grabbing a glass. "But fine."
Ayame followed, shrugging. "If I die, I'm haunting you."
Mom walked in right as they were about to drink."Oh, how sweet, Rin made smoothies! I'll have one too."
And just like that… the system chimed.
[Mission Complete. Reward Unlocked: "Daily Missions" and "Stats."]
The world froze for a second — literally froze — and I felt a surge of energy, dark and electric, ripple through my body. The lights flickered, the air shimmered, and then everything snapped back to normal.
Ayame blinked. "Did… anyone else feel that?"
Sayuri frowned. "Probably the blender short-circuiting. Again."
I just stood there, smiling like an idiot. "Heh. Yeah. Probably."
That night, when everyone was asleep, I sat by the window again. The city lights twinkled in the distance, neon signs flickering in the humid summer air.
The system interface floated before me, brighter than ever.
[New Feature Unlocked: "Status Window."]
I exhaled slowly. "All that for a smoothie."
[Congratulations, Host. Your ingenuity has been noted.]
"So even you admit it was clever."
[If you want to think that way, sure]
"...Wait, are you mocking me?"
[Irrelevant. Sleep well, Host.]
And just like that, the system vanished.
I stared at the empty space where the blue text had been, then laughed quietly to myself."Yeah. Totally normal life. Nothing suspicious at all."
Somewhere down the hall, I could hear Sayuri snoring, Ayame's quiet music playing through her door, and Mom humming softly in her sleep.
Then another blue text buzzed.
[Daily Mission(23:59 left): Do 100 push ups 0/100 Do 100 sit ups 0/100 Do 100 squats 0/100 Do a 10 km run 0/10 Reward: ??? Penalty: ???]
I sighed, staring at the ceiling."...Here we go again."
