Chapter 5 - Betrayal of Michael

After this, Michael walked toward the knights, who were already tired after dealing with the monsters.

"We were going to teleport," said Michael in a clear voice.

The knights agreed immediately, and everyone felt a layer of joy in their hearts.

Soon after, Michael used his teleportation magic to take the knights in a row. This magic was forbidden by the Esclosten Empire, yet they were using it for the safety of the knights. If they dared to use the mana recklessly, they would be held accountable.

Ten minutes later, all the knights had reached the gates of the west city. Michael arrived to find Esmeralda leaning against her sword, breathing heavily. The pain she felt was intense, crushing every part of her body. She was barely hanging on. Despite this, a light of hope flickered in her heart. Her worry eased when her mint green eyes met the oceanic ones of Michael.

Michael had finally come. She smiled subconsciously.

Soon, Michael came forward and hugged her, catching Esmeralda by surprise. She thought to herself that it must be because of today's incident. She smiled faintly, but then her pupils trembled and widened in shock.

The attack was silent and steady. A knife sliced into her back and ribs. Esmeralda gasped, feeling something hot escape her body. A mouthful of blood spilled from her lips.

Michael pulled her away, and she was shocked to see the disgust in his oceanic eyes. Confusion filled her mind Why? What was happening? Why did he do that?

"Esmeralda, why? Why are you always ahead of me? I hate you, but now, after seeing you in this state, I am very pleased," Michael laughed, pushing her away.

Esmeralda staggered and fell to the ground. Michael smirked. "Do you know how humiliated I felt when I was appointed as vice-captain?"

Esmeralda couldn't believe that the person she trusted the most had betrayed her. Her blood-stained lips trembled. "Why?" she managed to whisper.

Michael looked at her disdainfully. "Are you asking why? Ha! Esmeralda, I am done being your servant. You've always been an obstacle."

He roared, "Michael D. Hollosear deserves to become the commander, not the pathetic commander!"

With that, he pulled out his sword and stabbed her again. Blood began to drip from her body until she was covered in it. Michael didn't cast her a single glance and walked to the portal that was opened.

She looked at the person walking away. 'Is this how I'm going to die?' She coughed up a mouthful of blood and soon felt sleepy.

"Master," a servant said, rushing in with a ghostly expression.

The man's expression turned cold. "Master, there is something in the garden," the servant stammered.

For a moment, he said nothing, but after a while, the man nodded and went to check the garden. Dressed in a custom-made western-style suit with platinum cufflinks, the man's black suit accentuated his strong, cold facial features.

Upon entering the garden, the man's expression furrowed slightly at the sight of an injured woman leaning against a tree, seemingly unconscious. The servants in the garden looked terrified.

Observing their expressions, he walked toward the woman, picked her up in a bridal style, and took her to one of the guestrooms. After placing her on the bed, he took out his phone and said, "Come here."

Once alone, the man noticed the blood-stained clothes he was wearing. His eyebrows twitched, but he didn't comment and went back to change.

When he returned, he heard laughter downstairs and sighed to himself. Upon entering the room, he saw a man happily chatting with the servants. Sensing the cold presence of his friend, Jiang Yali stood up and asked, "What's the matter?"

"Come with me," the man commanded, his tone cold.

Jiang Yali stepped back, clutching his chest in a mock panic.

The man's eyes hardened. "I was joking. Let's go," Jiang Yali said with a cough.

In the room, he noticed a figure lying on the bed. Startled, he turned to his friend and asked, "Li Jinfeng, what did you do to her?"

Li Jinfeng remained silent.

Jiang Yali sighed and said, "Never mind, let me take a look at her."

Observing the woman, Jiang Yali found her pulse was steady but noted the significant blood loss. He glanced at Li Jinfeng and said, "We need to operate on her."

Li Jinfeng nodded, carefully scrutinizing the unconscious woman. Jiang Yali thought to himself, "His friend must be a monster."

Ten minutes later, Jiang Yali's surgical team arrived and began the operation. After two hours, Jiang Yali emerged from the room to find Li Jinfeng standing there. He gave him a sad look.

Li Jinfeng squinted, "What's the matter?"

Jiang Yali replied, "It was successful. However, she is in a coma."

"I will check on her once a week," Jiang Yali added, "although I've arranged for a nurse to look after her."

Li Jinfeng nodded.
