Chapter 6 - A Rebirth

**Six Months Later**

After six long months of stillness, Esmeralda slowly awakened from her deep coma. As she blinked her heavy eyelids open, she found herself staring up at the stark white ceiling under the harsh fluorescent light. A rush of panic flooded through her.

*Who am I? Where am I?*The questions echoed in her mind like a distant drum. As she tried to piece together the fragments of her thoughts, a sharp pain stabbed through her head, rendering her unable to think clearly. It was as though a fog settled over her memories, leaving her disoriented and vulnerable.

Her gaze drifted across the room until it landed on a maid who was humming softly to herself, the sound breaking the oppressive silence. The maid was engrossed in her work, diligently scrubbing the floor, but when their eyes met, the maid's demeanor shifted dramatically.

Fear washed over her, and she dropped the mop, the water splashing around her feet as she fell to her knees in terror.

Esmeralda's heart quickened at the sight of the maid's fright. she instinctively reached out, but the maid, startled, scrambled to her feet and fled the room, leaving only silence in her wake.

In the meantime, Li Longwei had just received news from the butler that the girl was awake. he reached for his phone and called Jiang Yulin, summoning him to the villa despite Jiang's reluctance. Jiang had been looking forward to a blind date but couldn't ignore the call from his friend.

Arriving a few minutes later, Jiang Yulin felt irritation simmer beneath his calm exterior as he parked and approached the entrance. The butler greeted him with a polite smile and said, "Master is in his study."

Jiang Yulin nodded curtly and headed to the study, only to find it empty. He furrowed his brow in confusion and thought inwardly *where is he?*

Meanwhile, in the room where Esmeralda lay, Li Longwei stood quietly beside her bed, his sharp eyes taking in the petite figure before him. "You're awake," he said softly, his voice low and steady.

Esmeralda slowly raised her head, her gaze locking onto his. Confusion clouded her features as she asked, "Who are you?"

Longwei's expression darkened for a moment, surprise flickering across his face. "You don't remember anything?" His voice held an edge of concern.

Esmeralda swallowed hard, fear gripping her throat. She couldn't recall anything her memories were an impenetrable blur. Who was this man, and why did he have such an intense presence? She felt her small fists clench at her sides as she replied, her voice trembling, "I don't remember."

Longwei studied her expression, his face a mask of thoughtfulness. After a moment, he stepped outside .

Poor Jiang Yulin walked in from another room, muttering to himself, "Where the hell is he?" He glanced impatiently at his phone. "Damn, my date."

When he spotted Li Longwei leaning against the wall, Jiang quickly put on a sheepish smile. "You're finally here."

Li Longwei nodded, his demeanor still focused.

"The woman woke up, but she doesn't seem to remember anything," he explained, his tone serious.

Jiang Yali's excitement at her awakening dimmed as he processed the latter part of Li Longwei's statement. "What are you planning to do?" His curiosity piqued, he leaned closer, eager to understand what his friend had in mind.

Longwei fell into deep thought, weighing his options. "Let's see how things unfold."

Meanwhile, Esmeralda lay back down on the bed, fear filling her heart as she pulled the blanket closer around her. The silence of the room felt suffocating. She had no recollection of her past, nor did she have any clarity regarding the man who had just left.

Jiang Yulin decidee to look at her and spoke "Let me take a look at her." With a nod from Longwei they both entered the room.

Esmeralda remained motionless, her face partially obscured by the blanket. Jiang Yulin crouched beside the bed, his voice gentle. "Little girl, are you awake?"

She hesitated, her heart pounding, then slowly pulled the blanket away and blinked at Jiang Yulin with wide eyes.

"I'm Jiang Yulin " he introduced himself, his tone warm and inviting.

"Um… I don't remember my name," Esmeralda said softly, her voice laced with sadness. The emptiness within her felt overwhelming.

Jiang Yulin exchanged a glance with Longwei both men sharing an unspoken understanding.

A few moments passed before Esmeralda heard Li Longwei deep voice cut through the air, commanding yet gentle.

"From now on, you're Su Fengxi"

The name struck a chord within her, and although her eyes widened in surprise, she whispered, "Su Fengxi" testing the sound on her lips.

Li Longwei observed her closely, studying the way her expression shifted ever so slightly, almost as if the name ignited a spark within her. Jiang Yulin aised his eyebrows, astonished by the sudden change.

"Do you like the name?" Jiang Yulin asked playfully, a grin spreading across his face, trying to lighten the mood.

"I like it," Su Fengxi replied, her voice gaining a hint of confidence as she glanced at Li Longwei a shy smile flickering on her lips.

Li Longwei eye's gleamed as he looked at her.

Just at that moment, his phone rang, shattering the quiet atmosphere. He retrieved it from his pocket, his expression instantly turning cold as he recognized the caller's number. Without a word, he stepped out of the room, leaving Su Fengxi and Jiang Yulin behind.

Su Fengxi , sensing the tension in the air, remained silent, her eyes shifting back to Jiang Yulin.

"Must be from the company" he said with a reassuring smile, trying to defuse the situation. Su Fengxi nodded, though her mind was racing with questions. Why was she here? Who was she really?

Jiang Yulin sensing her unease, continued, "When I first saw you, you were in a bad state." His tone shifted to something more serious.

At the mention of her condition, Su Fengxi pupils dilated in shock. She felt the weight of her injuries, but clarity about her past was still elusive.

"Umm..." Jiang Yulin scratched his head, searching for the right words. "How to say this… You were injured badly."

The reality of her situation began to sink in, and with it came a wave of anxiety. There was so much she needed to understand about herself, and a glimmer of determination sparked within her as she prepared to uncover the truth.

Hearing Jiang Yulin's gentle explanation washed over Su Fengxi like a warm wave of relief, her tension easing as if a burden had been lifted. However, the momentary calm didn't last long.

Her expression turned serious, shadowed by the complexities of her fragmented memory. Observing the girl's troubled demeanor, Jiang Yulin couldn't help but sigh, sensing that Su Fengxi was teetering on the brink of distress due to her past.

"Don't worry, Su Fengxi" Jiang Yali reassured her with a supportive smile.

"I'm sure your memories will come back to you soon."

At these words, Su Fengxi's troubled expression began to soften, and she nodded slowly, a smile breaking through her anxiety.

"Thank you," she replied quietly, her voice barely above a whisper, a hint of hope flickering in her eyes.

Jiang Yulin chuckled lightly, glancing at the time. "It's getting quite late, and I really have to go now."
