Chapter 5 - JOURNEY TO ITALY

A week later, the Valerius family gathered at the private terminal, their luggage neatly arranged, their excitement barely contained. Isabella felt a strange tension building in her chest as she stepped onto the private jet, the luxurious interior reflecting the grandeur suggested by the invitation. The soft leather seats gleamed under the cabin lights, and golden accents lined the aisles, giving everything an air of elegance and privilege.

"Wow…" Leo whispered, eyes wide as he took in the surroundings. "This is insane!"

Sophie laughed, tossing her carry-on onto the seat next to her. "I've never flown like this in my life! I feel like a movie star!"

Isabella smiled faintly, but her mind wandered elsewhere. She clutched the invitation in her hands, turning it over repeatedly. Despite the luxury surrounding her, a sense of unease lingered. She didn't know who awaited them in Europe, or why this invitation had chosen her—and her family.

Her mother walked down the aisle, settling into her seat, her hands neatly folded in her lap. "It's quite beautiful, isn't it? I've never been on a plane this luxurious," she said softly, glancing at Isabella with a reassuring smile.

Christian remained quiet, sitting opposite Isabella. His hands rested calmly on his lap, but his eyes were fixed on the horizon through the jet window. "Remember," he said in a low, serious tone, "Europe is vast and unpredictable. Enjoy it, but stay aware."

Isabella glanced at him, catching the subtle seriousness in his tone. She nodded, unsure if he was simply giving advice or hinting at something deeper.

Leo bounced in his seat again, pointing at the window. "Look at the clouds! Are we already above them?"

Sophie leaned over, peering outside. "It's beautiful… but I still can't believe we're going to Italy! Venice, Florence, Rome! Everything is going to be amazing!"

Isabella exhaled slowly, trying to focus on their excitement rather than her swirling thoughts. "Yeah… it will be an adventure," she said quietly, tucking the invitation safely into her bag.

The engines hummed steadily as the plane lifted off. The city lights below faded into a sea of darkness, replaced by the soft glow of the rising moon above the clouds. Isabella's heart raced. Somewhere in Europe, someone—or something—was waiting for her. She could feel it.

Her mother reached out, touching her hand gently. "We're in this together, dear. Whatever this is, we'll face it as a family."

Christian nodded, a faint smile breaking his usual calm demeanor. "Enjoy the journey. The destination… will come soon enough."

Isabella stared out at the night sky, lost in thought. Excitement mingled with unease. She didn't yet know the true purpose of this invitation, but she felt a sense of inevitability settle over her. Something monumental was about to happen, and she had no choice but to follow the path laid out before her.

As the plane climbed higher, Leo's chatter continued. "Do you think we'll get a tour of the palace or mansion or whatever it is? Maybe we'll even meet royalty!"

Sophie rolled her eyes playfully. "Leo, it's Europe, not a fairy tale. But still… this is amazing. I wonder how long we'll stay, and what we'll see first!"

Isabella smiled faintly at her siblings' excitement. "We'll see," she said softly. "We should just enjoy the ride for now. Everything else… we'll find out soon enough."

Hours passed as they flew across the Atlantic. Isabella watched the dark expanse of the ocean below, thinking of the invitation, the mysterious CEO, and the unknown wedding that awaited them. She felt a thrill of anticipation, tempered by a flutter of nerves she couldn't quite explain.

Her father spoke again, breaking the silence that had settled in the cabin. "Remember, this trip is not just about sightseeing," he said evenly. "Pay attention to details, and stay close. There are always things you don't see at first glance."

Isabella nodded, feeling a shiver run down her spine. What could he mean? The words seemed loaded with meaning, though he gave nothing more away.

Finally, as the plane began its descent toward Italy, the golden glow of the city lights appeared on the horizon. Isabella pressed her hand against the window, her heart pounding in anticipation. Soon, they would step into a world unknown, one filled with elegance, mystery, and perhaps danger.

Leo squealed with delight. "We're here! Look at all the lights!"

Sophie laughed and grabbed his arm. "Leo, behave! But… yes, it's incredible."

Isabella remained quiet, taking a deep breath. She felt a mixture of excitement, anxiety, and something deeper—an unspoken sense that this trip would change her life in ways she could never have imagined.

As the plane touched down and taxied to the private terminal, Isabella held the invitation close. Italy awaited them—mysterious, alluring, and filled with secrets she could not yet foresee.

And somewhere deep inside, a small, restless part of her knew that the moment they stepped out of the plane, her life would never be the same again.
