"Let go," Gideon growled, trying to pry her off. She refused to release him, clinging harder.
"No… I won't," she sobbed.
Heads turned. Whispers spread. Some onlookers watched with amusement, others with thinly veiled disdain.
Aware of the stares, Gideon's anger flared. "Stop causing a scene," he snapped. Grabbing her wrist, he dragged her away from the crowd.
He pulled her into an empty corridor and turned on her, fire radiating from his eyes. "This ends now, Danica. There is only one woman in my heart, and that is Summer. You once falsely accused her and convinced me she caused your miscarriage. I hurt her because I believed you. You even took advantage of me when I was drunk and slept with me."
With each word, his voice hardened. "But I won't make the same mistake again. Stay out of my life."
With that, he turned his back on her and walked away.
Danica's heart lurched when she saw him walking away. 'I can't leave him yet.'
