Chapter 20: Cosmos
Cosmos was one of the strongest superheroes in the world.
His abilities were based around cosmic radiation and energy. He could generate powerful energy blasts, absorb radiation, fly, and survive extreme environments that ordinary humans could never withstand.
After hearing about the reward for defeating Transition, Cosmos immediately began searching for Derek.
Eventually, he found him.
Cosmos didn't waste any time.
The moment he saw Derek, he raised his hand and fired a massive cosmic-energy blast.
"Transition!"
The attack rushed toward Derek at incredible speed.
Derek simply looked at it.
Transitioning activated.
The energy suddenly disappeared from its original path and reappeared behind Cosmos.
BOOM!
The redirected energy struck Cosmos and sent him crashing into the ground, creating a large crater.
Cosmos struggled to get back up.
Derek looked at him calmly.
"Radiation really is everywhere. Every time the government has a problem, they have to call another superhero to fight my ass."
Cosmos glared at him.
"You think you've won?"
Derek smiled.
"It's time to play God."
Cosmos immediately realized what Derek intended to do.
"Wait—"
Transitioning activated.
Cosmos disappeared.
Far away from Earth, Cosmos suddenly found himself standing on Pluto.
He looked around in confusion.
"Where am I?"
Derek's voice echoed in his memory.
"Pluto."
Cosmos tried to use his cosmic abilities to survive.
But Pluto's environment was completely different from Earth. There was no breathable atmosphere, and Cosmos could not gather enough usable radiation to sustain himself.
His body gradually became unable to function.
Eventually, Cosmos died on the distant world.
Back on Earth, Derek simply turned around.
"Really? Cosmic-level superhero?"
He walked away.
For Derek, the fight had barely been a fight at all.
Cosmos had enormous energy, incredible durability, and powers capable of operating on a cosmic scale.
But Derek didn't need to overpower him.
He only needed to change where Cosmos was.
And once again, Transitioning had proven that Derek's greatest weapon wasn't his physical strength.
It was his ability to decide where everything belonged.
