Chapter 113 - Princess? That’s it?

"Maggie and her companions are behind the house!"

Before the skinny, dark-skinned woman and her other companion could run again, voices came from beside the building, indicating that the official personnel were already catching up.

Maggie's companion, a man with a large tattoo on his left cheek, yelled, "Princess, I'll hold them off, you go first!"

Maggie, with her thick, dark hair, flashed a hint of ferocity in her eyes, then suddenly pointed at her subordinate. A wisp of black spirituality shot out from the tip of her index finger.

The black spirituality struck the man and burrowed into his body. The man immediately howled, trembling all over, every muscle twitching.

His body swelled and grew, and black, coarse hair sprouted from various parts of his body. In the blink of an eye, he transformed into a half-human, half-wolf monster, then, with a wild posture, he ran on all fours towards the personnel pursuing them from beside the house, causing gasps and gunshots.

As for Maggie, after doing all this, she swiftly left the farm and plunged into the vast night.

"So fast."

Grizzly exclaimed, "She runs faster than a steam train; she's definitely not an ordinary person, Duke, you saw it too, didn't you? She turned her companion into a monster!"

Lex nodded slightly, his expression cold and stern, and added in his mind.

Fast, capable of quickly healing injuries, able to turn humans into monsters, and possessing the ability to command Living Corpses—truly a very troublesome opponent.

Mole had followed Maggie when she left, but quickly returned, reporting dejectedly, "No, her speed is too great, I can't keep up with her."

Nafi softly exclaimed, "In that case, are we out of luck tonight?"

Lex shook his head, "No, I can track her."

But after finding her, a careful deployment is needed. Otherwise, people will die tonight.

The night wind roared!

Due to her high-speed running, Maggie's long black hair was all swept backward. She rushed into an overgrown, poorly maintained cemetery and finally stopped.

She leaned against a tombstone, breathing slightly, and after her breath calmed down, she pulled out a uniquely styled bone flute from behind her waist.

This bone flute was inscribed with dense, bizarre symbols. When Maggie brought it to her lips and gently blew it, these symbols on the flute lit up with a faint, dark green glow.

The flute's sound drifted through the cemetery. The floating clouds in the sky were blown by the wind, obscuring the red moon, making the cemetery dim.

Not far from Maggie, in a grave, the loose earth stirred, and suddenly, a pale, bone-exposed hand emerged from the soil.

More and more such hands emerged from the soil, and then, expressionless corpses sat up from their respective graves.

Over a dozen Living Corpses crawled out of their graves, their expressions numb, but they moved quickly towards Maggie.

Maggie lowered the bone flute and pointed towards a tombstone without an epitaph in the cemetery, "Dig for me!"

The Living Corpses then approached the tombstone and began to dig with their bare hands. The soil was pulled away, revealing what was inside. Lying beneath the tombstone was not a coffin, but a metal box.

Maggie pointed to another grave, ordering the Living Corpses to continue digging, while she herself opened the metal box. Inside were wooden boxes, from which a rich fragrance quietly wafted.

She said with a pained expression, "What a pity for this batch of spices. If sold on the black market, they could fetch at least several thousand to tens of thousands of pounds."

"There's no other way. To be targeted by 'Heart of Machinery,' it seems I can only temporarily move to another city."

She fumbled for a box of matches on her person, intending to burn the spices. Suddenly, her intuition was stirred, and she sharply turned her head to look at the cemetery entrance.

A figure was standing there, she didn't know when he had arrived.

At this moment, the floating clouds in the sky drifted, and beneath the crescent-shaped crimson moon, a man wearing a felt hat, a knee-length thin trench coat, and a mask on his face stood with his hands spread open, as if praising some deity.

At the same time, all the Living Corpses that were digging graves raised their heads and looked at the man in unison, then, like dogs seeing a bone, they rushed towards the man, scrambling over each other.

Just then, a look of mockery flashed in the man's eyes behind his mask. He threw out something golden and shimmering.

It looked like a thin gold plate.

When that object fell into the horde of corpses, it suddenly erupted with a pure, blazing golden Light, and the cemetery instantly seemed to have a sun rise within it.

In the brilliant sunlight, the Living Corpses' bodies sizzled and rapidly melted away.

Were they purified?

Maggie, who had this thought, was also stung in the eyes by the sudden burst of Light. She quickly closed her eyes, but her eyes still burned, and tears uncontrollably welled up.

The fine hairs on the back of her neck suddenly stood up. She felt danger and instinctively lunged forward with all her might. The moment she jumped, Maggie felt a sharp pain in her right shoulder, then heard the muffled sound of a gunshot.

Of course, it was already the fading echo.

I was shot?

The woman uncontrollably fell to the ground, barely managing to open her eyes, but her vision was blurred, she couldn't see anything clearly.

Maggie could only rely on her recent memory to hide behind several tombstones, hoping to use these covers to buy time and recover her vision.

She had just hidden herself when she suddenly heard a gunshot. The sound was very close, definitely no more than twenty meters away.

Then her left knee violently swung outward, clearly hit by a bullet, this phenomenon caused by the impact of the bullet head!

Shit!

She cursed under her breath, but still managed to remain calm. She knew her recovery ability was very strong, and as long as she bought time, she would have a chance to counter-kill.

At this moment, in her blurred vision, she saw a figure walking towards her, continuously firing a gun.

No, I need to change position!

Maggie stood up, but her injured knee prevented her from performing the movement she had envisioned. Moreover, this movement exposed her, so as a powerful gunshot rang in her ears, a spray of blood bloomed on Maggie's chest!

What's happening to me?

Maggie's mind was in a jumble.

How could I forget such an important detail—that there were two gunmen! Damn it, I can't concentrate.

"Ugh."

Maggie suddenly groaned. She felt a cramping pain in her abdomen and couldn't help but cough violently. She coughed up fresh blood, which was reddish-green, making her panic.

This is a sign of poisoning!

She found her vision had returned to normal, and so she saw a cloud of red, blood-like spirituality mist slowly spreading nearby.

Just then, her shoulder, which had been injured in the first shooting, violently swung, and her shoulder, which was already healing, was severely re-injured, and this time, a large amount of fresh blood gushed out.

Watching the blood gush out like a fountain, Maggie felt a wave of weakness, she screamed inwardly. Something is wrong, all of this is wrong.

Clink, clank.

The sound of bullet casings falling to the ground made her look over. She saw the masked man reloading a crimson revolver in his hand.

At the same time, expressions of pity, contempt, and mockery flashed in the other person's eyes.

Each of these looks was unbearable to her, let alone so many of them.

And at this moment, from within that black iron mask, a sentence that drove her mad rang out: "Princess? Is that all you've got?"
