Chapter 173 - The Fortune Teller's Trouble

"Intis person?"

Lex immediately became interested. He wanted to learn about the Secret Order, but the Secret Order mainly operated in Intis, and he was frustrated by the lack of channels within the Loen Kingdom. Now, he saw hope.

The Watcher had said that the Secret Order controlled the 'Seer' pathway, so this Intis person should know something about the Secret Order.

"Can I understand the situation first before deciding whether to accept the commission?"

Hearing Lex's question, Cromwell made a 'naturally' gesture and then said, "Shall I arrange for you two to meet this afternoon?"

"He needs a bodyguard, which means he might be in danger, possibly being targeted. In that case, let's set the meeting place in a crowded and lively area, and it would be best if no one knew he hired a bodyguard."

"Also, let's set the time for 5 PM, which is dusk."

Because I have another gathering at three o'clock, Lex thought for a moment and made the above judgment.

Cromwell nodded, "No problem."

Four o'clock in the afternoon.

Lex, alone in his bedroom, frowned.

"Strange, why haven't I received a summons? Klein isn't in trouble, is he?"

"Speaking of which, today is already the 10th. The Watcher mentioned before that on the 9th, which was yesterday, something big would happen at Blackthorn Security Company. Is that why the Tarot Club wasn't held today?"

When the time reached 4:30 PM, Lex confirmed that the Tarot Club would not be held today, and then he left the Arbiter's house.

Evening.

In the square in front of the Lever Church, people came and went. Having received some information about the employer, Lex, in the image of a gentleman, carrying a new black leather suitcase, walked across the square, startling a flock of white doves.

He sat down on the third-to-last bench on the west side of the square, where a man wearing an old overcoat, a hat, a beard, and a pair of black round-rimmed glasses was also sitting.

Pulling out a bag of birdseed from his pocket, Lex casually threw some to the pigeons nearby and said, "Good afternoon, Mr. Kaven. Please don't look over here; let's communicate like this."

"Hello, Mr. Bodyguard." Judging by his voice, the man's age was not great, probably around twenty-one or twenty-two.

"I've heard about you, but before deciding to accept the commission, I'd like to know what kind of trouble you've encountered." Lex casually threw out more feed, attracting many pigeons.

Kaven whispered, "As you know, I'm from Intis, and I'm in trouble. I'm being hunted, and I've already prepared to leave Backlund three days from now, in the evening."

"So, you just need to ensure my safety for these three days."

Lex chuckled softly, "I heard you are a Seer, so can I assume that you are actually a member of the Secret Order?"

"Please don't be nervous; I'm not interested in your identity, but I need to determine who my opponent will be. If the one hunting you is also a Seer, then I will decide to abandon this commission."

"Dealing with Seers is very troublesome, especially if they might be related to the Secret Order. I don't want to appear on that mysterious organization's blacklist and potentially be divined every day."

When Kaven first heard 'Secret Order,' his whole body tensed up, then gradually relaxed, and he said with some surprise, "Mr. Bodyguard, I didn't expect you to even know about the Secret Order."

Lex habitually shrugged, "In our line of work, we always have to gather all sorts of intelligence. I don't want to become a thorn in the side of some mysterious organization because of a commission; I want to live a little longer."

Kaven nodded in agreement and said, "Alright, I'll tell you about my situation, and you can consider it. Once, I was a noble in Intis. It's just that our Family, by my generation, had reached a dead end."

"My father, in order to revitalize the Family, did not hesitate to sell off assets and sent me into the Secret Order to become a Seer."

"But unfortunately, although I successfully joined the organization, I was never given important responsibilities. I always lingered on the fringes of the organization, doing some less important work."

"But my Family couldn't hold on any longer. My father couldn't wait for the day I would become powerful. Due to debt, he could only declare bankruptcy and take his own life."

"Since then, my already low status plummeted even further. But I was unwilling to live such an unremarkable life, so, so..."

At this point, Kaven paused before continuing, "In short, I left the Secret Order and fled to the Loen Kingdom."

"I have lived here for three months and originally thought I was safe. But recently, I noticed that someone was inquiring about me."

"And recently, their steps have been getting closer and closer. Through divination, I received a revelation that this person is here to kill me."

Lex had finished throwing all the feed in his hand, and the white pigeons in the square gathered elsewhere: "Then, do you know the other party's information? You are a Seer, that shouldn't be difficult for you."

Kaven, however, shook his head: "I'm very scared. During this time, I avoid going out if I can. And even if I am a Seer, without the other party's related items, it's very difficult for me to obtain their information."

"But one thing is certain: the other party is not a Seer. Otherwise, I would have been found long ago."

"I understand the Admiral situation. Please wait a moment."

Lex stood up, turned and entered the church, took out a few soli and put them into the donation box, then chose an empty corner and sat down.

He took out the Seer coin and whispered, "Kaven is not lying."

Lex flicked the coin, watching it land on the back of his hand, with the wizard's hat side facing up.

"It seems he really isn't lying."

Lex thought for a moment and gave another divination phrase: "Kaven did not tell the whole truth."

This time, the pattern was still facing up.

Lex spoke the third divination phrase: "Will I take a great risk with this commission?"

The coin tumbled in mid-air, and when it landed, Lex saw the side with the number.

"That's enough."

Lex put away the coin, returned to the square, and as he passed Kaven, he quickly said, "I accept the commission. The bodyguard work starts now. You don't need to mind me; I will protect you from the shadows."

He quickly walked away, not even glancing at Kaven, as if he were just a stranger.

"However..."

"I saw him yesterday, at the subway entrance." After Lex walked away, he chose a hidden spot to observe Kaven's surroundings, trying to find any potential dangerous individuals.

At the same time, he remembered that after saying goodbye to the Miss writer yesterday afternoon, he had bumped into the man who was divining with a coin at the subway entrance and ultimately did not take the subway.

That man was Kaven Brook.

It's just that at the time, he wasn't wearing a fake beard or round-rimmed glasses.

But Lex still recognized him from his demeanor and physique.

With this association, he naturally thought of the man with soft light-brown hair and gloomy eyes, who seemed to be looking for someone, after he entered the platform.

"He might be the one hunting Kaven."

At this moment, the Seer had left the bench and walked out of the square. Lex maintained a relatively safe distance from him, adjusted his top hat, and followed with his suitcase.

After passing through an alley, Lex transformed again into a company employee wearing a gray-blue overcoat, without a top hat, but carrying a suitcase and holding a newspaper.

He had placed the props he had prepared earlier in the suitcase, allowing him to quickly change his disguise midway to ensure that no one would notice that Kaven was being protected.
