Chapter 343 - First Spiritual Communication

Upon realizing the possibility of Danitz being killed, Lex immediately took action. He used a 'Storm Charm' to create a storm that enveloped the Big Eater.

Under the cover of the storm, Lex successfully approached the pirate ship and used 'Flame Jump' to enter the cabin.

At this moment, he heard footsteps approaching, and from the sound, he could tell there was more than one person.

Since the hurricane lamp had been extinguished, the room was plunged into darkness, and Lex silently moved to the door.

As soon as he stood ready, he heard someone outside call out: "You two go and prepare the fish we just caught. I'll cook it when I get back; only I know the Captain's taste. This damned downpour caught me off guard. I'll change my clothes and be right over."

"Yes, Head Chef."

Lex was surprised. There was actually a Head Chef on this ship? It seemed the Captain of this ship was someone who enjoyed the pleasures of the palate.

The door opened, and someone walked in, carrying the dampness of water. He let out a surprised 'huh': "Why is the light out?"

Closing the door with his backhand, he was about to reach for something. Suddenly, a chill spread across his chest; he felt something sharp pierce his Physical Body. He quickly lost strength. He wanted to scream, but a hand covered his mouth, preventing his cry from sounding properly.

A moment later, a man lay before Lex's eyes.

The Head Chef of the ship.

Lex knelt down and lightly pressed his hand, wearing the 'Midnight Dream', on the corpse's chest. He was about to use 'Spirituality'.

The Head Chef, serving the Captain, should not have too low a status on this ship. Even if he was just an ordinary person, he would know secrets that other pirates did not.

For example, what Beyonder abilities the Captain possessed, and which subordinates were noteworthy.

As Lex injected spirituality into the 'Midnight Dream', he saw the black gem of the ring deepen in color. Then, 'darkness' spread out from the gem, instantly enveloping Lex and the corpse on the ground.

Lex had once seen Martha of the Night Watchers perform 'Spirituality' and knew that Seers needed to prepare relevant items and corresponding rituals to communicate with the spirituality of the deceased.

However, 'Midnight Dream' skipped these steps, allowing Lex to directly communicate with the spirituality of the deceased.

Lex felt exceptionally clear-headed. He only felt as if his spirit body had detached from his Physical Body and entered the void of the Universe. All around him was boundless, ultimate darkness, yet the 'sky' above was crowded with all sorts of strange transparent shadows, as well as clear, radiant lights containing endless knowledge.

This was similar to the scene when he used that Teleport item to travel from Tingen to Backlund. Before, Lex didn't know what kind of space he had entered, but now he knew.

This was the Spirit Realm!

At this moment, a hazy, shimmering, peculiar world, as if enveloped by a storm, appeared before him. He involuntarily moved towards that shimmering storm and entered it.

In an instant, countless shimmering lights struck Lex, and he seemed to hear the layered whispers of countless people. These whispers were extremely chaotic and illogical. One moment they were crying about their misfortunes, the next they were praising the beauty of women.

This was Lex's first time using Spirituality, his first encounter with such a thing. He felt his spirit becoming volatile, being pulled and assimilated by these mad whispers.

This reminded him of a terrifying word: Loss of Control!

He recalled the scene when he first drank the potion. He quickly concentrated, using meditation to solidify his spirit.

A moment later, he felt as if he had pierced through an obstacle, and then he saw the muddled, semi-transparent spirit body of the Head Chef.

The Head Chef seemed to sense Lex. He looked over blankly but made no movement.

Completely inexperienced, Lex tried asking: "What is your Captain's name? Is he a Beyonder? What are his abilities?"

The Head Chef answered without any concealment: "Our Captain is Marco. He is a Beyonder."

"His Physical Body is very strong. I once saw with my own eyes that he was hit by a cannonball, but he was completely fine, at most like an ordinary person falling and scraping their skin. I heard that even if the Captain is burned by fire or submerged in water, he will be fine."

"I've also seen him revive dead companions, and they obey his instructions. But the revived companions behave strangely, like a Zombie, and their bodies emit an unpleasant odor."

Hearing these descriptions, Lex immediately connected it to a term: Zombie!

Captain Marco should be an Aberrant pathway, Sequence 6 Zombie!

"Is there someone on your ship who likes to wear a white formal suit and a white top hat? Who is he, what is his name, and is he also a Beyonder?"

The Head Chef continued to answer: "That's Roch. He is the Second Mate on the ship. He's a gloomy fellow who always talks to himself."

"However, the Captain trusts him a lot. He's very good at Divination, and he always manages to make things simple. One time I heard him say—"

The Head Chef paused, then changed to a gloomy voice: "Damn it, where am I supposed to find the Magician's formula?"

Lex immediately understood that the fellow who liked to wear a white top hat was a Seer, currently likely a Sequence 8 Clown!

Next, Lex asked a few more questions, learning that their First Mate was a man who liked to wear a clown mask and had dark red hair. This man was named Zot. From the Head Chef's description, the other party seemed to be a Pyromaniac, just like himself and Danitz.

Additionally, there was a Boatswain named Laffey, who liked to apply powder to his face and hated it most when others called him effeminate. However, the Head Chef's description was very vague, making it impossible to confirm whether the other party was a Beyonder, or which pathway he belonged to.

This result indicated that even if Laffey was a Beyonder, his Sequence would not be too high, so his characteristics were not obvious, and the Head Chef could not describe him specifically.

Lex also learned from the Head Chef's spirit body the rooms of those people, as well as the locations of some important places on the ship.

For example, the ammunition depot.

At this moment, light and shadow wriggled, and the mental world became blurry. A moment later, Lex once again saw the dim cabin, and the Head Chef's chest, pierced by 'Devil May Cry', with blood slowly spreading.

"I stayed in the mental world for a while, but in the real world, it seems less than 1 minute has passed?"

Lex exhaled, looked at the 'Midnight Dream' on his hand, and thought that 'Spirituality' was really convenient, it was just troublesome when entering the Spirit Realm and passing through the shimmering storm that enveloped the spirit body.

Overall, everything went smoothly.

Through the Head Chef's spirit body, Lex obtained intelligence on several important figures on the ship, as well as relevant information about the Big Eater.

He stood up, a smile curving his lips, and softly announced: "Next, it's hunting time!"
