Chapter 360 - Rescue Mission

"But what?" Lex looked at the Captain, cutting a piece of stewed lamb. He felt like he was a child again, eating and listening to adults tell stories.

Edwina said without concealment, "The person who possesses the second half of the great sea travels has been in some trouble recently. He's been thrown into prison, or more precisely, a private jail."

"A private jail?" Lex had never heard of such a thing before.

Danitz chuckled, "If there are private ports, then naturally there are private jails. Some large estate owners on Sea Islands, who command hundreds of laborers, sometimes throw a laborer who has made a mistake into their privately built cells for punishment."

"The owners of those large plantations even have their own armies and Beyonder as bodyguards. Those Sea Islands are not in colonial areas and are not protected by the laws of various countries. Such phenomena are commonplace on the Sea."

Edwina added, "However, the private jail he was thrown into was not built by a large estate owner. That prison belongs to a very influential local native. He could be called the king of the island, possessing immense power."

"He has many connections with the resistance forces in the Rorsted Archipelago. He sells grain and cloth to the resistance, and he owns a private port where pirates often stop to resupply."

"Additionally, he owns several large plantations and a number of mines. His wealth far surpasses that of the Kingdom's lords."

Lex was stunned, saying, "We're not going to invade this Sea Island and rescue that collector, are we?"

Jodeson laughed, "Of course not. We don't have that kind of strength. Even Blood Admiral wouldn't dare to lightly attack that Sea Island."

"So what's the name of that Sea Island, and who is that collector?" Lex looked at Iceberg Admiral.

"That Sea Island is Yedgar. The person who collected the second half of the great sea travels is Spender, Spender Clarence."

"The name of that Sea Island is named after its owner. Mr. Spender is a Traveler, a Poet, and a writer," Iceberg Admiral explained. "He has been to many places, leaving behind many beautiful poems, and has also written many travelogues."

"When he arrived at Yedgar, the owner of the Sea Island warmly welcomed him and hosted a grand banquet in his honor. But you shouldn't expect a dictator to appreciate literature. Yedgar's purpose in doing this was merely to have Mr. Spender write a biography for him."

"A biography?"

Lex's mouth twitched. "I can probably guess what happened next. Mr. Spender must have been unwilling to write a biography for this dictator, which is why he was thrown into prison."

Jodeson gave a dry laugh, "No, he wrote it. But our Mr. Spender is a romantic figure. He enjoyed the food and lodging in Yedgar's mansion, which was comparable to a palace. Besides helping Yedgar write his biography, he also had an affair with several of Yedgar's beautiful wives."

Pfft—

Lex sprayed a golden waterfall from his mouth.

This is not what I imagined.

Edwina said with an unchanging expression, "Because of this, Yedgar threw him into prison. Yedgar made him continue writing that biography in prison, and once the biography is finished, Mr. Spender will be hanged."

Lex wiped his mouth with a napkin and said, "In that case, wouldn't it be better for Spender to just keep delaying the completion of that biography?"

"Yedgar is a devil, a tyrant, a brutal dictator. But he is not stupid. He personally visits the prison once a week to inquire about the progress of the biography."

"Spender has tried his best to delay, but now, only one chapter of that biography remains."

Edwina put down her knife and fork, looking around, "At the fastest, a week; at the latest, no more than half a month, this biography will be completed. Once it's finished, Spender will be hanged, and then, the second half of the great sea travels will likely never see the light of day again."

"Therefore, we need to infiltrate Yedgar and rescue Spender!"

After all that circling, the real purpose was finally revealed. Edwina really is like a teacher; her words just now were like a teacher earnestly instructing students in a classroom, only revealing the main topic at the end.

Hmm, is she worried that these Sailor aren't smart enough? Or is she worried that I won't understand?

Lex resisted the urge to rub his face, feeling somewhat underestimated by Iceberg Admiral.

"If we're infiltrating, we shouldn't use too many people, otherwise it will alert Yedgar," Lex said casually, then drank the beer in his glass. As he put down the glass, he noticed everyone looking at him.

Including Iceberg Admiral.

Lex's face twitched slightly, "You're not thinking of having me infiltrate Yedgar, are you? Such an important mission, entrusting it to a newcomer like me, are you sure?"

Edwina's tone was filled with rationality, "To be competent for this mission, one must at least be a Boatswain-level person. But all of us are on wanted posters. People on the island probably see us ten times a day, I mean our portraits on the wanted posters."

No need to explain, I understand!

"So, you, who just joined the Golden Dream, are the most suitable candidate. Moreover, you cooperated with Danitz to hunt Marco, and combined with your previous achievements, I believe you can complete this mission."

"Of course, you can also choose to refuse. Don't force yourself; you can consider it carefully."

Lex thought seriously for a moment and said, "How much time do I have to do this?"

"One week."

If I'm infiltrating, I have the Thousand-Faced Traveler mask, so that aspect isn't difficult. However...

Lex looked up, "If I weren't here, you would probably still plan to do this. Therefore, Captain, you have a plan, right?"

Edwina nodded, then said, "Unless you accept this mission, otherwise, you don't need to know the plan."

One week. If I can complete this mission in two or three days, I'll have extra time to go to Tingen City. Moreover, this mission wasn't proposed by me, nor did I actively ask to leave the ship, which is advantageous to me.

I can try!

Lex nodded, "I accept this mission."

"Good. Come with me later, and I'll explain the structure of the private prison on Yedgar Island, how to infiltrate, and where Spender is being held, and so on," Edwina said calmly.

At this moment, Jodeson stood up, "Captain, actually my abilities are more suitable for this mission. All of them Pyromaniac are too conspicuous."

"As for the identity issue, I can solve it through disguise. Please let me complete this mission."

Iceberg Admiral pondered for a moment, then said concisely, "Rayleigh has a higher success rate."

Seeing Edwina say this, Jodeson could only nod helplessly, "Alright."
