Chapter 418 - Shipboard Commission

The originally somewhat noisy deck suddenly quieted down, and gazes fell one after another on the man in the black classical robe.

Although he wore a mask, his expression at this moment should have been somewhat panicked, so he subconsciously took two steps back.

Two strong men beside him stepped forward, blocking the numerous gazes.

Even so, the atmosphere on the deck was still subtle; those pirates seemed to have suddenly turned into bloodthirsty sharks, and the person who was going to sell the runic dagger was a piece of fatty meat dropped into the sea.

At this moment, the blond pirate on the Black Pearl said indifferently, "Anyone want it?"

After this sentence rang out, that strange atmosphere dissipated considerably. After some bargaining, the dagger was bought for 400 pounds by a gloomy man.

The man had no hair on his head, pale skin, dark circles under his eyes, and the part below his nose was covered by a bird-beak mask.

He wore a black overcoat with a fur collar, a light blue ascot, and short boots, looking very capable.

After buying the dagger, he casually gestured with it a few times, then put it away with satisfaction.

"That seller was too careless; he shouldn't have sold weapons with Beyonder effects at this kind of gathering," Edwina, also wearing a black iron mask, said softly.

"Why, Captain?" Danitz didn't quite understand his Captain's meaning.

Jodeson, wearing a formal suit and a half-top hat beside him, chuckled, a low voice coming from under his mask: "Although it's not a magical item, a weapon with a Beyonder effect isn't something just any Artisan can make."

"Those who can make such weapons must be Artisans in the Beyonder sequence. Therefore, even if this seller isn't an Artisan, there must be such a person behind him," Lex added, following the 'flower tie's' words.

Iceberg Admiral nodded slightly and said, "Artisans are talents all organizations dream of. Who wouldn't want to have an Artisan who can continuously forge weapons or items with various Beyonder effects?"

"So, Artisans must know how to protect themselves, otherwise their situation will be very dangerous."

Danitz now fully understood: "Captain, you mean that seller exposed the fact that he is an Artisan, or has an Artisan behind him."

"And it was at this pirate gathering. Therefore, he will be in danger?"

Jodeson chuckled: "Isn't that obvious? However, he's not stupid; at least he knew to bring two guards. The question is, how capable are those two guards?"

Edwina said softly: "He should be fine on the Black Pearl. Jack won't break his own rules, and besides, the King of the Five Seas doesn't lack Artisans."

"But it's hard to say once he leaves the Black Pearl. If I were him, I'd take the money and leave immediately; perhaps that could reduce some risks."

Unfortunately, that seller was not Edwina; he had no intention of leaving, and even proceeded to purchase some materials for rituals.

A moment later, when there was a brief silence on the deck, Danitz suppressed his voice and said, "Who has the Conspirer's formula?"

The deck remained silent. After a while, the blond pirate shook his head and said, "I'm afraid no one has what you're looking for. Next."

Danitz couldn't help but make a long face, sitting dejectedly to the side.

Then he heard Lex say, "I want to buy a weapon, preferably a revolver, with a Beyonder effect."

There was another silence.

Danitz's mood only balanced out a little when he heard the blond pirate shout 'Next'.

The gathering continued; some had bountiful harvests, while others gained nothing.

During this process, Edwina did not make a move, while Jodeson bought an auxiliary material.

Just as the gathering was about to end, someone said gloomily, "I have a commission."

This was a gentleman wearing a black top hat, a formal suit, and a matching double-breasted long trench coat. He wore a silver mask covering the part above his nose, bit a cigar in his mouth, and eight of his ten fingers wore various gem rings, giving off an air of a nouveau riche.

He made a gesture, and a man dressed as a servant behind him pulled out a photograph.

The nouveau riche said, "Find the person in the photo. The reward is 800 pounds, or equivalent items, Beyonder materials, etc."

"Remember, I want him alive. And if anyone kills him, believe me, no matter where you run, I will find you and make you regret living in this world."

After speaking, the nouveau riche made a gesture, and the servant handed the photo to the person next to him, asking him to pass it around clockwise.

The nouveau riche continued, "If anyone catches him, you can go to the Wild Horse Bar on Sonia Island and tell the Bartender there, just say 'The rabbit has been caught'."

"Even if you don't catch him, providing valuable information will also earn you a corresponding reward, at least no less than 10 pounds."

As he spoke, the photo came into Edwina's hand. Lex curiously glanced at the photo, guessing that the person the nouveau riche wanted to find might be his illegitimate son.

But when he saw the photo, his heart thumped heavily!

The photo showed a teenager, about fifteen or sixteen years old, wearing a somewhat cumbersome long gown, completely unlike the style of any country on the North-South Continent.

He had jet-black hair, a pair of dark eyes, a wider nose, relatively flat facial features, and yellowish skin.

These were clearly features of an Asian person!

Could there also be a race similar to Asians in this world? Which continent would they come from?

"He doesn't look like someone from the West Continent, and certainly not from the North Continent. Where is he from?" a pirate asked, voicing Lex's thoughts.

The nouveau riche-like man exhaled smoke and said lightly, "That's not something you should be concerned about."

Lex thought for a moment and asked, "Does he have a name? Knowing his name might allow us to track down some clues, more or less."

The nouveau riche looked at him: "Li Rui, or Lin Rui. I'm not sure either; this is translated based on his pronunciation."

Li Rui or Lin Rui?

This was clearly not a name from the North-South Continent. Did he come from another continent? Or was he also a Transmigration?

Lex's eyes flickered as he memorized the person's characteristics and name.

Someone else asked, "Does he have any frequently used items?"

"Hair would also work."

The nouveau riche bit his cigar and shook his head: "I know what you want to do. No, if I had those things, I would have found someone to divine long ago."

"How strong is he? Is he a Beyonder?" a pirate asked cautiously.

The nouveau riche frowned and said, "We can't be sure if he's a Beyonder. We can only say he has some very strange, very magical methods."

"For example, he can turn stones into gold, but it only lasts for a very short time."

"He can also make a seed quickly grow into a large tree, but the tree will wither very quickly."

"As for combat, he's good with a staff, and his staff can freely lengthen or shorten, sometimes used as a tool."

"Overall, he's not very powerful, but he's very difficult to catch, which is why I came to this gathering. I hope there are truly powerful guys on this ship who can help me catch this kid."
