Chapter 427 - Backed by the Gods

After the mouse ran upstairs, it scurried into room after room, as if searching for something.

Finally, it darted into a dimly lit bedroom and saw the quilt on the bed thrown back, with someone sitting up.

It was a man in his thirties, with messy hair, a full stubble, and dark circles under his eyes.

He had a mole next to his right eye and a high nose bridge. If he were to clean himself up and trim his beard, he would undoubtedly be a dashing gentleman.

Unfortunately, in his current state, he was only slightly better than a vagrant.

While the mouse observed him, the man got out of bed, opened the window, and let out a long sigh.

He turned around and finally spotted the mouse, immediately screaming, "A mouse! There's a mouse!"

Suddenly, there was a rush of hurried footsteps outside the room, and then the door was violently thrown open. A burly Feysac man rushed in with a revolver: "What happened?"

"A mouse, there's a mouse in the house! I told you not to dismiss all the servants. Look, mice are running into this house now!" The unkempt man loudly complained.

As for the mouse, it had already jumped out the window and fled before the door was even broken open.

The mouse quickly climbed down the pipe, then burrowed into the underground passage, and finally, with a sudden collapse of its head, it instantly lost all signs of life.

It was already dead.

In a cafe on Hagen Street, Lex finished the last drop of coffee, left a few banknotes, put his hat back on, and pushed the door open to leave.

"So, a Marionette can also share vision and hearing. This ability is very practical. I can turn nearby animals into Marionettes and use them for reconnaissance."

Lex looked up, his grey-blue eyes gazing at the small building across the street, and smiled, "There are three Feysac police officers, and Morse is inside as well."

"Not difficult to deal with. It can be resolved."

"It's just that soon, Your Excellency Shevic will be visiting. That should not be a simple person. Who could it be?"

Lex reached into his pocket. He walked through the hall, entered an alley next to Room 12, and suddenly, he vanished from the alley.

When he reappeared, Lex was already standing in the kitchen, which was piled high with unwashed dishes.

"Slumber."

He whispered in Hermes, and immediately, a power of 'peaceful sleep' flowed through the villa. It spread like a tide, making the small building seem as if night had fallen.

The three Feysac police officers and Morse in the villa suddenly felt their eyelids grow heavy, and weariness silently crept over them. Unknowingly, they fell asleep.

Morse didn't know how long he had slept until he felt someone gently patting his face and heard a slightly hoarse voice by his ear. Only then did he slowly awaken.

"Wake up. Can you hear me?"

Morse struggled to open his eyes. His vision gradually focused, and he saw a dimly lit room. This seemed to be a living room, but it was no longer the bedroom he was familiar with, located in Room 12 on Hagen Street.

This room seemed to have been unused for a long time. The floor was covered with thick dust, and there was sparse furniture in the room. The empty bed had no bedding whatsoever.

As for himself.

Morse realized he was sitting on a sofa with several holes gnawed by mice. In front of the sofa was an old gentleman in his early fifties, with greying temples, grey-blue eyes, and a lively spirit, smiling at him.

Morse shivered, completely losing all sleepiness. He jumped up and rattled off a string of questions: "Where is this? How did I get here? Who are you? What do you want?"

"I don't intend to harm you, otherwise, you wouldn't have woken up. Wouldn't you agree, Mr. Morse Abraham?" Lex continued in the old man's voice.

Morse's eyes widened, his gaze flickering as he looked left and right, as if searching for an opportunity to escape.

"Don't do anything foolish, Mr. Morse, unless you want to be taken away by those Feysac police officers."

Hearing this, Morse immediately deflated, "Alright, who exactly are you, and why do you know my identity? Even those Feysac people don't know I'm Abraham."

"That's because your father, Mr. Asered, entrusted me to search for your whereabouts on the Sea. To be honest, it took me quite a bit of effort to finally find you."

Lex said, half-truthfully, "As for me, you can call me... Mr. Morgan."

"Mr. Morgan, so you're a friend of my father's?"

Morse said cautiously, "But how can I trust you?"

"clarence gate, you took that item, didn't you? Asered told me that if he had to choose between you and it, he would prioritize bringing back that item," Lex said unhurriedly.

Morse gave a wry smile and said, "That is indeed my esteemed father's style of doing things."

Lex continued, "Additionally, as long as 'clarence gate' is nearby, it will continuously absorb all kinds of gems. Any gem will do: rubies, sapphires, emeralds, diamonds, pearls, lapis lazuli, etc., are all things that 'Gate' loves."

Morse spread his hands, "Alright, I believe you now. This is a Family secret, and unless my father told you himself, you wouldn't know such details."

"I'm glad to have earned your trust. So please tell me, Mr. Morse, where is 'clarence gate'?" Lex put away his smile and asked this most crucial question seriously.

Morse stared at Lex, and after a moment, he sighed, "Mr. Morgan, it's not on me."

"I know."

Lex took out a lapis lazuli from his pocket. This was prepared to detect whether 'clarence gate' was nearby.

And now, this lapis lazuli showed no abnormalities whatsoever.

"It was taken by my friend," Morse said, his voice hoarse, looking at Lex.

Lex wiped his face and nodded gently, "It seems you need to tell me your friend's whereabouts, and who he is."

Morse suddenly stood up and said, "Mr. Morgan, please reply to my father and ask him to trust me just this once!"

"I took 'clarence gate' for a reason. They said this item could help them with something. If they succeed this time, they will help us, the Abrahams, to break free from the Bloodline curse!"

Lex frowned slightly, "Breaking free from the Bloodline curse, is that the condition they offered? Mr. Morse, I am not an Abraham, but I have heard of your curse."

"I sincerely hope that one day you can truly break free from that curse. But I don't think your friends can solve this problem."

Because 'Yellow Light' Venithan had said that regarding the Abraham Bloodline curse, the solution lay in the future, in the hands of an "Apprentice" who received help from secret being.

Furthermore, this curse involves the level of deities, and it is absolutely not something that can be easily escaped or lifted.

In other words, Morse had been deceived and misled!

Unexpectedly, after hearing Lex's words, Morse firmly stated, "No, they can solve it. Because, they have a deity behind them!"
