Chapter 444 - Large-Scale Illusion

At this moment, the white perch serving as a Marionette was about 20 meters away from Lex, which was also the maximum distance he could control a Marionette. The pirates quickly closed the 20-meter gap by rowing their oars vigorously, but Lex did not let the Marionette continue forward.

Seeing the distance to the Marionette getting closer and closer, Lex gripped his ''Devil May Cry'' slightly nervously. He shouted to Danitz, who was not far away, "Have you felt anything?"

Danitz was also a 'Pyromaniac'. In ancient times, a 'Pyromaniac' was also known as a 'Fire Mage'. At this stage, a 'Hunter's' spirituality would be very active, allowing him to keenly perceive some changes.

Danitz shook his head, which was within Lex's expectations, as he hadn't sensed anything either. He said this purely to create a sense of tension and keep Danitz on alert.

As expected, after hearing these words, Danitz's expression became vigilant.

Then.

Lex's vision blurred.

A completely different scene suddenly entered Lex's field of vision.

One second ago, he was still on a calm Sea with clear skies and the water and sky merging into one.

The next second, although he was still on the Sea, the waters here were constantly churning with huge waves, and in the distance, Lex saw the small black Sea Island with a volcano, and the 'Nether Lord' on the crater!

What's going on?

Were we Teleported?

No, if it were Teleportation, we should have entered the Spirit Realm, but I don't feel like I've entered the Spirit Realm.

Moreover, even if it was Teleportation, the time was too short. It didn't even take 1 second to go from a calm Sea to this somewhat turbulent Sea.

Lex stood blankly at the bow of the ship, and the pirates behind him and on the other ship were just like him, unable to react to the sudden change.

It was only after a moment that Danitz said, "I'm not dreaming, am I?"

The Barrel leaned over and pinched his face hard, making Danitz curse, "Shit, why are you pinching me!"

The pirate with the bloated waist said in a slightly sharp voice, "I'm confirming for you whether you're dreaming."

"Why don't you pinch yourself!"

"I'm afraid of pain."

Danitz really wanted to throw a fireball at this guy.

At this moment.

A chorus of exclamations rose from the 'Golden Dream'.

"Am I seeing things? How did Danitz and the others suddenly disappear?"

The pirates all leaned over the ship's rail, straining their eyes to look ahead, but they genuinely didn't see Danitz's ship, as if it had suddenly vanished from the Sea.

At the bow, Jodeson looked at the Iceberg Admiral somewhat nervously. The Iceberg Admiral remained calm but said nothing.

After a moment, two small boats suddenly reappeared on the Sea ahead, and then the pirates saw Danitz signaling from his boat, telling them to come over.

It was then that Edwina said, "Set sail."

"Set sail!" Jodeson turned around and shouted, waving his arm to give the corresponding signal.

The 'Golden Dream' started moving, heading in the direction of Danitz and his crew. On the Sea, Lex and their small boat turned around and rowed forward, but after a few meters, the scene before Lex's eyes changed, and he had already arrived at that turbulent Sea, seeing the black Sea Island in the distance.

"Is it an illusion?"

Lex mused, "Such a large-scale illusion, and to maintain it for so many years, this is no longer something human power can accomplish, right?"

"This Sea, that Sea Island, probably isn't that simple."

He looked up at the sky.

The sky above the Sea Island was also not calm. The sky was gloomy, with large floating clouds gathered. Occasionally, lightning would appear within the clouds, and as the electric light moved through them, unsettling shadows would sometimes be seen.

It was as if there was another world behind the clouds, and its inhabitants could intrude at any moment.

A large wave suddenly surged, as the 'Golden Dream' had also entered this Sea. Lex clearly saw that the Iceberg Admiral's vessel appeared as if it was entering reality from the Spirit Realm, with its hull gradually manifesting until it was fully in this Sea.

At the bow, Jodeson's expression was similar to Lex's just now. 'Flower Bowtie' was utterly stunned, looking at the turbulent Sea, the black Sea Island in the distance, and the 'Nether Lord' stranded on the island's volcano, almost doubting if he was dreaming.

After a long while, he finally said, "Captain, have we been Teleported to another Sea?"

Edwina's conclusion was similar to Lex's: "I don't think so. If it were Teleportation, we would have to enter the Spirit Realm. But we didn't enter the Spirit Realm. I'm more inclined to believe that this Sea, including the 'Nether Lord', is protected by a large-scale illusion barrier."

"This barrier should only be accessible at specific times. At other times, even if one happened to pass by, they probably wouldn't discover the distant Sea Island, nor the 'Nether Lord'."

She looked at the sky again, then calmly said, "Go ashore immediately and try to finish exploring today. If we can't fully explore, we must leave before sunset."

The pirates never doubted her words, including Jodeson.

So the 'Golden Dream' sped up towards the Sea Island, and upon reaching the vicinity of the Sea Island, they discovered a ring of coral reefs on the Sea. These dark rocks either emerged from the Sea or were submerged.

They acted like a natural protective barrier, preventing large sailing ships like the 'Golden Dream' from passing. The 'Iceberg Admiral' had the pirates lower the small boats, and a moment later, about ten small boats passed through the reefs.

Finally, Lex and the others landed on a pebble beach. The pirates moved the boats onto the pebble beach to prevent them from being washed away by the water.

Jumping onto the pebble beach, Lex looked at the island, every inch of which was stained pitch black. At a glance, he could see nothing but rocks.

There were no trees, no flowers or grass, and no animals. The entire Sea Island seemed full of Death Energy.

"Look there." Danitz raised his hand and pointed to the distant volcano. On the mountainside of the volcano, there was a clearly man-made stone staircase.

There were some wooden houses built into the mountain wall, and even tunnels passing through the mountain. It looked like people must have lived here before, and quite a number of them, otherwise such construction on the mountain would not have been possible. But now, most of those wooden houses had collapsed and didn't look like they were inhabited.

"Everyone be careful." Edwina carried a fancy hunting rifle in her hand. The barrel of the gun was covered with dense symbols, and it didn't look like an ordinary firearm.

The pirates spread out, maintaining a formation with appropriate spacing. This seemed to be the result of Edwina's usual teachings, and from this, it could be seen that the pirates of the 'Golden Dream' were completely different from other pirate groups.

They walked across the pebble beach, stepping on the hard black earth where no grass grew, gradually advancing deeper into the Sea Island. Just as they were passing through a stone forest, Lex's spiritual intuition was triggered, and he suddenly threw a crimson fireball at a jagged, strange rock ahead.

As the fireball approached the strange rock, a gray shadow suddenly lunged out from behind it, directly colliding with the fireball. With a bang, amidst the crimson flames, the shadow was blasted backward, hitting a rock, and then falling down.
