Chapter 477 - Falling short of success

The points of morning light gushing from Levto's halberd quickly transformed into a golden Light Storm, sweeping outwards with a roar.

This was the 'Dawn Paladin's' most powerful Beyonder ability, Light Storm!

When Lex saw the points of light erupting from the giant secretary's halberd, he knew something was wrong. By the time the hurricane swept outwards, his Spirit almost screamed, warning him.

This was a storm unleashed by a 'Dawn Paladin' who had undergone an all-around enhancement. Lex dared not be careless, and to conceal his strength, he did not intend to use his magic ring, meaning his frequently used Paper Doll Substitute could not make an appearance tonight.

So, as those points of light erupted, Lex leaped back, simultaneously raising his arm, conjuring a crimson glow that formed a massive Fire Fist. Just as the Light Storm erupted, Lex's Fire Fist also smashed out, colliding with that intense Light!

A flash of fire, and a cloud of fire exploded in the manor. The fire cloud was silently swallowed by the Light, but the storm rushing towards Lex also stopped.

This allowed Lex to calmly evade.

Lueran, the blonde secretary, had not directly participated in the battle and had mainly provided support, so he had maintained a considerable distance from Levto.

When the Light Storm appeared, he prudently avoided it, hiding far away on the other side of the open ground, untouched by the storm.

As the Light reached its peak and then waned, and the storm gradually subsided, the ground was visible to be thinned by more than ten centimeters, forming a shallow pit visible to the naked eye.

In the gradually dimming Light, Levto, whose armor was shattered in many places, revealing his skin, rushed fiercely towards Lueran.

He had been chasing Lex before, but this time, he abandoned Lex and pounced on Lueran.

Amyrius's secretary was slightly taken aback, but he quickly reacted and launched a Spiritual Piercing at Levto. However, this time, the giant only frowned slightly and did not clutch his head and scream as before. Clearly, the effect of this Spiritual Piercing on him was greatly weakened.

Just like that, Levto took the opportunity to approach Lueran, his halberd scraping the ground from bottom to top, plowing out sparks, and sweeping towards his opponent.

Lueran dodged awkwardly, and in his haste, he pulled out his revolver from his armpit holster, but Levto gave him no chance to fire. The halberd created afterimages without interruption, launching a furious assault like a violent storm.

His halberd was both long and heavy, its attack range and reach far exceeding weapons like swords. Under Levto's relentless assault, Lueran had no better option than to evade.

During this, he seized an opening and used Spiritual Piercing on his opponent again, but the effect was even worse than before. In fact, because of the ability release, his movements were slightly slower, and he was picked up by Levto's halberd, causing his upper garment to tear and blood to splatter.

Fortunately, Lex used fireballs from behind to distract Levto, forcing him to turn and defend. Lueran then quickly rolled along the ground, putting distance between himself and the terrifying giant Knight.

After continuously smashing seven or eight of Lex's fireballs, Levto roared and actually threw his halberd at Lex. The halberd of light dragged a bright light trail, whistling like a cannonball. Lex dared not be overconfident and rolled violently to the side.

The halberd smashed into the ground, shaking the manor, sending mud and stones flying, and creating a small pit where it landed.

At this moment, Levto, who had thrown his halberd, actually turned and ran, ignoring Shevic, who was still fighting Amyrius. His seemingly clumsy figure strode out of the manor like a shooting star.

Lex was about to give chase when he suddenly heard Shevic's voice: "Ruler of the battlefield fog, symbol of weather changes, totem of storms and lightning…"

He was startled.

This was clearly Shevic seeking help from an Angel by chanting a true name. Did the Feysac Empire actually have an Angel stationed here?

The thought flashed through his mind, and Lex saw Amyrius rush over with a solemn expression, shouting, "Quick, grab me."

Lex quickly rushed over and grabbed the Admiral's arm. Amyrius's secretary also timely placed his hand on the Admiral's shoulder.

Amyrius clapped his chest, and a brilliant Light suddenly lit up in the pocket on his chest. Instantly, Lex felt the colors of the scene before his eyes become more vibrant.

The reds were redder, the yellows yellower, the whites whiter. The scene of Golden Spring Manor seemed to have become a strange oil painting!

This oil painting seemed to have detached from the real world, giving Lex a feeling of observing this scene from a higher dimension. Subsequently, the world became bizarre and motley. He saw various indescribable figures appearing and disappearing around him, and saw streaks of bright, clear light of different colors flashing above his head.

He was very familiar with this scene. Lex knew that he was in the Spirit Realm. Amyrius indeed possessed an item that could traverse the Spirit Realm.

The Admiral took a few steps forward, and within a few seconds, the scene returned to normal.

Lex felt the cold wind blowing past his ears, heard the sound of waves crashing on the shore, and felt the soft fine sand under his feet. After regaining his senses, he found that the three of them had arrived at a beach.

"Let's go." Amyrius quickly moved forward, heading towards the pier.

Lex could only put away his Blood Praise and, with Lueran, catch up with the Admiral ahead.

Golden Spring Manor.

Shevic's lips curved slightly, and he said in a voice only he could hear: "As the intelligence showed, Amyrius is a cautious man, but this caution sometimes leads him to make Error judgments."

"For example, he never expected that His Highness Ahomatova Einhorn was not on Sonia Island."

"Nor did he expect that, from beginning to end, that item was never on me."

The Iron-Blooded Knight smiled, and his body spontaneously ignited, then shot into the sky, transforming into a giant flaming spear. After slightly adjusting its direction, it pierced the night sky and vanished in an instant.

In the warehouse of a sailboat, Lex placed a gas lamp on a table, then sat on a nearby chair, looking at Amyrius.

The Admiral's serious and dignified face was cast with many shadows and lines under the lamplight, making his expression appear rather gloomy at this moment.

Mark, a merchant belonging to Black Sail, looked at Lex, then at the Admiral: "Your Excellency, respected Your Excellency."

He was about to ask about the result of the evening's operation when he saw Lex shaking his head at him, so Mark wisely closed his mouth.

After a long while, Amyrius let out a breath: "We failed."

"Although we located that Iron-Blooded Knight, he sought help from an Angel of the Feysac Royal Family. If we had continued to entangle with him, not only would we not have obtained that item, but we would also have sacrificed the lives of the three of us."

"It seems the Feysac's actions can no longer be stopped."
