Backlund, Intis Ambassador.
The new Ambassador was looking at some official documents when he suddenly felt the temperature in his office drop. He calmly activated his Spiritual Perception and saw a 'fountain' suddenly appear on the floor in front of his desk.
Illusory mud gushed out from the floor, and then 'vines' made of many intertwined arms rose from the mud. One of these vines, carrying an envelope, stretched towards the Ambassador and hovered above the desk.
The vine, made of many intertwined arms, gently placed the envelope down and then retracted, shrinking back into the floor along with the other vines.
The illusory mud flowed backward, and finally, it vanished completely from the office, and the room's temperature returned to normal.
The new Ambassador picked up the envelope with a solemn expression. He tore it open and took out the letter inside.
On the pristine white letter paper, there was no heading, no signature, and even the content was shockingly concise.
There were only two words on the letter: Investigate, Intervene!
The Ambassador expressionlessly shook the letter paper, and in a flash, a crimson flame ignited, burning the letter to ashes.
"Investigate and Intervene."
"In fact, when I received that anonymous letter, I had already thought about this problem. First, I need to confirm its authenticity, but confirming whether George III is secretly plotting to advance to Black Emperor is not an easy task."
The Ambassador mused, "However, if the Three Great Churches are involved, they should be able to investigate this matter more easily than I can. If George III is not preparing for advancement, this incident can also be used to create a rift between the Royal Family and the Church."
"Conversely, if George III is indeed plotting an advancement, the first to object will definitely be the Church. At that time, without us having to act, the Church will do everything in its power to stop George III. The Church will not give up its control over Augustus."
"Hmm, that's what we'll do. It's simpler to let the Three Great Churches receive this news than to confirm George III's status."
The Ambassador looked up and called out, "Someone!"
Night fell.
162 Backlund Street.
After dinner, Lex, who had just left the dining room, heard footsteps behind him. Then, his younger sister, Harribel, grabbed him.
The blonde Miss said mysteriously, "Lex, would you like to attend a gathering?"
Just as Lex was about to refuse, he heard his sister continue, "It's a gathering about mysticism. Elana mentioned it when she came to see me today. It's tonight, in the Queen's Borough."
"She said that the gathering will involve exchanging information about mysticism, and what's more, Roselle the Great's notes will appear there, the legendary notes written with mysterious symbols!"
"How about it? Come with me. I've long wanted to see the Great Emperor's notes."
Roselle the Great's notes?
Well, tomorrow is monday. If I can get a few pages, I can offer them to The Fool tomorrow.
Thinking of this, Lex readily agreed.
A moment later, in the alley behind the villa's wall, three figures huddled together furtively.
Harribel, wearing a hooded cloak, a mask decorated with feathers, and specially modified boots to alter her height, glanced at Levto and whispered, "Do you still have to bring Mr. Baal?"
I don't want to either, but a Marionette cannot leave my side by more than 20 meters. This is indeed very troublesome and inconvenient. If Levto were a Beyonder of another pathway, such as a Wraith, then I would only need to bring a mirror. Lex rubbed his face and said, "Baal is also very interested in mysticism."
The Miss glanced at the big man: "Are you sure?"
I'm not sure.
Queen's Borough.
In front of an inconspicuous villa, four or five carriages were parked. These carriages had no family crests; they were all rented carriages.
Just then, another rented carriage arrived nearby. After the carriage stopped, the door opened, and three people successively disembarked.
Lex paid the coachman and instructed him to wait there. Since Lex was generous, the coachman readily agreed.
As they moved towards the door, they saw Elana. Although the Miss was also wearing a cloak and had her hood up, she hadn't put on her mask yet, and Harribel recognized her at a glance.
She gestured, and Elana jogged over.
"Good evening." Elana subtly looked at Lex, then put on the prepared, jewel-encrusted mask that covered half of her face.
"Good evening." Harribel responded. Although she wasn't very fond of Elana because of what happened on Friday evening, the news, time, and location of the gathering were all provided by Elana, so the blonde Miss could only temporarily forget the unpleasant matters.
"Follow me." Elana glanced at Lex again, then led the way, with thoughts bubbling in her mind.
The Major is here!
Although I deliberately told Harribel that this gathering was a bit dangerous and that it would be best if her elder brother came along, I didn't expect the Major to actually come.
I just don't know if he came because of Miss Harribel or if he is also interested in mysticism.
If that's the case, I can try to get closer to him based on his interests, find common topics, and create a resonance. Hmm, Elana, you must work hard!
Arriving at the door, Elana looked up and knocked on the door with a specific rhythm.
Soon, they were led by a servant into the living room of the house. Mellifluous music was playing, and casually placed tables held refreshments and champagne. Men and women wearing cloaks with hoods up and various masks were conversing in low voices in the living room, looking as if they were attending a masquerade ball.
"The gathering won't start for a while." Elana explained softly.
Lex nodded gently.
Fortunately, they didn't have to wait too long. A servant came over and whispered a few words to Elana, and the Miss then led Lex and the two others out of the living room and into the sitting room.
The sitting room was furnished with sofas and chairs, and participants arrived one after another, finding their own seats.
Lex and his companions chose an inconspicuous corner. Levto even sat directly on the floor, which made him less noticeable.
Just then, a tall figure entered from the main door. It was a lady. Although she was wearing a cloak and a mask, Lex, relying on his 'Hunter' abilities, recognized her immediately.
This was the lady he saw at the Intis Cirenzo Restaurant yesterday at noon, wearing an olive-green dress and an old-fashioned black soft hat!
She's also here? Is she also a mysticism enthusiast? Lex cautiously lowered his head, not continuing to observe the lady. Firstly, it was impolite, and secondly, if the other party was also a Beyonder, prolonged staring would trigger their spiritual perception.
When most of the participants had arrived, a wooden door in the sitting room opened, and the gathering's convener emerged from within.
Elana whispered, "That's Viscount Yelise, a true noble!"
