Chapter 74 - Chapter 74: Terminal Horizon

It seemed that even Aldebaran was surprised to be attacked so unexpectedly.

It roared, engulfing Rentaro in a feeling of extreme danger.

All the Gastrea engaged in battle with the Civil Security and self-defense forces turned their heads, obeying Aldebaran's summoning call and turning back towards Monolith #32.

Everyone was stunned, not understanding why, until footage of Rentaro, alone and single-handedly cutting through the Gastrea legion with the intent to kill Aldebaran and end the war, was distributed to the defense team.

Everyone wore complicated expressions; some sighed sorrowfully. Just a little more, only a little more, and Aldebaran would have been dead.

But all those efforts only revealed even more desperate news.

Tier V Regeneration!

A tier that would be unfazed even if countered with nuclear bombs, thrown into lava, or hurled into the void of space. This was the ability to rebuild a biological body at the molecular level.

In other words, even if all of them surrounded and attacked Aldebaran, Aldebaran could not be killed.

Even the self-defense forces, who always looked down on the lawless Civil Security personnel, felt respect for Rentaro's brave action. What a pity...

"What are you waiting for! Are we just going to stand here and watch him die?"

Some shouted, but others regretfully shook their heads.

Although they felt guilty, they had only just managed to break free from the Gastrea legion a bit; who was willing to get tangled up again?

Not to mention that they were also relatively depleted; not much combat power remained.

At the same time, in the command room, Kisara saw the scene of Rentaro about to be surrounded. She anxiously grabbed her sword, but was immediately stopped by Sukekiyou.

"Tendou Kisara! Do you want to go out there and die?!"

"But... but! Satomi is out there..."

Kisara was still insistent, but Sukekiyou just sighed.

"Kisara, do you truly not understand Rentaro's intent?"

"The boy instructed me to stay here to keep you back, because you are too impulsive. Kisara, with your damaged kidney, how long can you stand on the battlefield? One minute, or ten minutes?"

"For Rentaro's sake, please stay here."

Sukekiyou spoke in a strict tone.

Since her parents' death, Kisara appeared outwardly stable and normal, but in reality, her mental and psychological issues were very serious. Otherwise, it would not have affected the function of one of her kidneys, requiring her to undergo dialysis every month.

Because of this, Kisara could not fight for too long. That was why Rentaro prevented her from going to the battlefield and asked Sukekiyou to watch over her.

Facing a real meat-grinding battlefield, the strength of an individual was too small. Rentaro could not protect her completely.

Kisara collapsed.

She knew, how could she not know?

But Rentaro was about to be torn apart right before her eyes. Did knowing or not knowing... matter that much?

A strange look emanated from Kisara's eyes, but just at the moment she was about to explode, the screen showing the battlefield unexpectedly displayed a surprising scene.

A helicopter hurtled into the sky above the battlefield. When the camera zoomed in, Kisara saw a small, blonde girl, carrying a six-barreled gun and firing continuously, clearing the Gastrea blocking the way ahead. Beside her was an orange-haired girl with long hair tied into pigtails, standing seriously.

"Enju and... Tina? What are those kids doing here?"

While Kisara was still in shock, on the battlefield, the fight was extremely tense.

"Tina! Do you see Rentaro yet?"

"I see him! There are at least ten targets surrounding him. Can you do it?"

"It's a piece of cake!"

Enju patted her biceps, but she was incredibly nervous inside. Just then, Tina yelled loudly.

"They're coming!"

Without thinking much, Enju only glanced once to determine her target, then immediately jumped down. She extended her foot, crushing the head of a Gastrea as soon as she landed, before Rentaro could react. Enju slung him onto her back. Tina quickly provided aerial support from the helicopter, both firing her gun and dropping a rope ladder.

Unfortunately, before Enju could grab onto the rope ladder, a winged Gastrea still managed to slip past Tina's barrage of bullets, puncturing the helicopter's rotor. Seeing the situation was dire, Tina immediately grabbed her gun and jumped out, while the helicopter spiraled out of control and crashed to the ground, exploding into pieces.

"You two fools... I told you to stay put... in the territory."

Rentaro said weakly. He slipped off Enju's back, placing both girls behind him. Enju was so angry she was crying, punching and burying her face in his back, punching and sobbing.

"Rentaro is an idiot! You clearly said we would fight together!"

"Enju..."

"I... want you to live for a very long time... a very long time... so you can gaze upon this world."

"Tina, take Enju and go. Run horizontally towards the nearest Monolith or run into the wilderness. Because the Gastrea are almost entirely concentrated here, the wilderness is temporarily safe. Go, hurry up and go!"

Tina trembled, then stubbornly shook her head. But both girls who wanted to fight were pushed away by Rentaro.

"Go!"

"I... will be fine."

Rentaro did not turn around, refusing to let the two girls see his face, which was already stained with blood and tears. If he turned back, they wouldn't leave.

The entire world in Rentaro's eyes gradually turned black and white. This was the side effect of his Justice Eye (Nghĩa nhãn); his nervous system could no longer bear the strain. The Justice Eye was very powerful, extremely powerful, capable of capturing movements within 1/2000th of a second.

1/2000th of a second means an action that occurs in a fleeting second is like a drawn-out scene lasting over half an hour to a user of the Justice Eye at the peak level.

And now, Rentaro had almost reached that limit, what is called the "Terminal Horizon." That was also the reason he could still protect both girls behind him from every snarling Gastrea. Even as Rentaro's body and mind were gradually heading towards collapse.

Transcending the limit of the "Terminal Horizon" was possible, but when that happened, his mind would not be able to return, becoming stuck at the event horizon where all things cease because they have slowed to the extreme limit. When that happened, Satomi Rentaro would be left with nothing but an empty shell, which would become a prison confining his soul for eternity.

1/2000th of a second!

His Justice Eye had reached its limit!

And that was the moment Rentaro punched out the best strike of his life.

Before, in the moment he had once realized his own peak martial art, he did it once, but never again afterward. No matter, the Justice Eye would give him enough time to correct every minutest detail.

As a result, ten Gastrea were instantly killed with mortal wounds in nearly simultaneous timing. This left anyone observing in utter astonishment, feeling it was unreal.

But Rentaro collapsed, officially exhausted of all his strength.
