Cornelia's POV

Panic seized me as consciousness returned, my mind immediately jumping to work obligations before reality crashed back. I had quit. The relief that followed made me sink deeper into my mattress, pulling the covers over my head. Colter had given me free rein with the greenhouse project, which meant I could start whenever I pleased.

Sleep beckoned again, warm and inviting, until a sharp sound shattered the quiet. A shout echoed through the house. David's voice.

My feet hit the cold floor before rational thought could intervene, the blanket abandoned as I raced from my room. The marble was freezing against my bare soles, but I barely noticed as I hurried toward the stairs.

Nothing could have prepared me for what awaited below.

The Dolf brothers had always seemed like strangers sharing a house. Their interactions were formal, distant, barely more than polite acknowledgments. I had assumed they simply tolerated each other's presence.

How wrong I had been.
