Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 Monsters All Have the Ability to Remain Immortal

"Wow! So, that Ogre has been lurking on this road, hunting passersby?"

Daly, who was driving, occasionally probed Chris for information; at his age, he was most curious about such things.

"Yes, the pedestrians who disappeared on this road were basically killed by this guy. There are still a few bodies in the church's basement; you can notify the police to deal with them when the time comes."

Chris nodded in response, remembering the bodies in the basement and mentioning them.

He didn't have time to deal with those remains, but he couldn't just leave them.

So he informed the siblings, letting them contact the police.

"But if we do that, we'll inevitably have to tell the police about you."

Hearing Chris tell them to call the police, Tracy immediately spoke up.

Due to the significant emotional shift and Chris's unique charm,

this girl was already deeply attracted to Chris.

In psychology, this seems to be called the suspension bridge effect, right?

Surprised that the girl still remembered his casual fabrication, Chris had to admit that human hormones still had a powerful influence on people.

After all, his ability to single-handedly kill the Ogre in the basement before largely depended on the support of adrenaline.

Secondly, it was the Ogre's own carelessness, underestimating Chris, coupled with the narrow space of the basement, which prevented the monster from utilizing its mobility.

That's why Chris managed to incapacitate it so quickly, without it even having the strength to fight back.

Thinking about it now, Chris still felt a lingering fear.

If that monster hadn't been an idiot, it would have been hard to say who would win.

But now that the dust had settled, he naturally didn't care about anything else.

So he continued to mislead them: "Just say that you two accidentally discovered that basement on your way home, and omit me and the Ogre."

"Cool! You're really like a superhero from a comic book; I wish I were as awesome as you."

Daly, who was driving, somehow got excited, perhaps from imagining something.

Fortunately, although he was reckless, he was still aware that he was driving, so apart from being emotionally excited, his actions were not excessive.

After being glared at by his sister several times, he finally calmed down.

However, from his frequent glances at Chris through the rearview mirror, he clearly had other ideas.

Tracy's suppressive power over him clearly didn't carry much weight, and after a moment, he spoke again: "Dude, do you need an assistant? Like Batman's Robin, or Blade's sidekick? I can help you too; at least driving is no problem. Or..."

"Shut up, Daly!"

Seeing Daly babbling endlessly, Tracy yelled, glaring angrily at her brother.

She had heard Chris's story about the Ogre and was still somewhat afraid.

If Chris hadn't happened to come here to deal with the Ogre, the two siblings would probably have become the Ogre's dinner.

So, she was naturally even more annoyed with her death-seeking brother, who now wanted to actively enter that dangerous circle.

When she got angry, her 'love-struck' brain was suppressed, which finally made Chris breathe a sigh of relief.

After all, with a blonde beauty constantly throwing herself at him, no one could remain indifferent.

If the time and place weren't wrong, Chris would certainly have gone with the flow, half-heartedly going to bed with her.

Unfortunately, not only was there a third wheel, but the Ogre in the trunk hadn't been dealt with cleanly yet.

Therefore, Tracy's constant temptation was making Chris quite uncomfortable.

Now that Tracy was busy scolding her brother, she naturally couldn't pay attention to Chris, which made Chris feel much better.

No longer needing to suppress his desires, Chris finally had the energy to observe his surroundings; he hadn't forgotten about dealing with the Ogre.

In many horror films, monsters are immortal, which, in addition to allowing for sequels, also serves to create a terrifying atmosphere.

After all, making ordinary people face monsters that are incredibly strong, elusive, and possess powerful regenerative abilities is how their invincible and terrifying image is shaped.

But having watched many horror films, Chris, based on his viewing experience, roughly categorized these monsters' immortality into three types.

These were physical immortality, soul immortality, and the most bizarre, conceptual immortality.

Among them, physical immortality was the easiest to deal with, because after humans entered modern society, there were countless things that could disintegrate carbon-based life forms.

Whether it was chemical decomposition or physical destruction, human technology had corresponding methods.

As long as the monster had no other special abilities, even if its regenerative ability reached the molecular level, Chris believed modern technology could solve it.

Soul immortality was a bit more troublesome, because worlds with souls usually had heaven and hell.

And with these two dimensions, it was undoubtedly a world with its limits maxed out.

Therefore, to solve this kind of monster, relying solely on human technology was useless, or rather, not very effective.

Only by finding something that could harm the soul, or by directly using more powerful divine energy, could the opponent be eliminated.

Finally, there was what Chris considered the most troublesome and difficult type of immortality.

That was immortality linked to some great existence, obtained through their blessings or curses.

For this kind of immortal monster, unless the powerful entity behind it was also dealt with, no matter how many times the opponent was eliminated, it would return again.

This was the type of film Chris found most annoying when he watched movies back then.

Because this kind of immortal monster was simply unsolvable with the protagonist's abilities, which greatly annoyed Chris, who always preferred happy endings and justice prevailing.

But fortunately, in the Jeepers Creepers world he had transmigrated to this time, this Ogre only had simple physical immortality; although it seemed to also have witchcraft power, it ultimately did not involve soul immortality.

Therefore, Chris still had the ability to completely eliminate the opponent and leave without regrets.

Pondering his strategy, Chris scanned for what he wanted to see.

Although Daly was constantly being scolded by Tracy, he didn't slow down, so before long, they arrived at the edge of town from the sparsely populated wilderness.

And Chris also found his target.

"Stop up ahead; I need to borrow something from that farm to completely end this Ogre."

Daly followed the direction Chris pointed and indeed saw a farm.

"Your eyesight is really good, almost like a pilot's!"

Chris strongly agreed with Daly's praise.

Before he transmigrated, he was highly myopic, and he owed his current vision to Dumpling.

After all, Chris's own vision was only at a normal person's level, and it was thanks to Dumpling activating the Transmigrator's talent that he possessed this level of vision.

According to Dumpling, that was because Transmigrators, during their journey across endless space-time, would have their soul essence improved through the tempering of void power.

And these essences would then activate some of the body's talents upon acquiring a body.

With good luck, they could even achieve the effect of cleansing the meridians and marrow, and reshaping bones and muscles.

Chris's luck was clearly excellent, because he originally didn't have the benefit of cleansing the meridians and marrow; it was Dumpling who, through technological means, actively helped him activate the Transmigrator's essence.

This then manifested over the following three weeks.

Chris just hadn't expected that the activation of talent Dumpling spoke of would also include the ability to transmigrate worlds.

This led to his current bewildered transmigration journey.
