Politics is a web, nothing happens without affecting the other. When His excellency, President Tinubu heard about the recent attacks in Lagos, he quickly ordered for a state summit. The summit was to take a place in an undisclosed area where the press couldn't poke their nose. It was a hidden guest house in Banana island
When the President finally arrived at the guest house, many government officials including the governor and secret members of the oracle were already sitted waiting for him. Immediately governor Martins saw the President entering with his aids, he stood up and greeted him
"Good afternoon your excellency, it's an honour to have you here" hr flashed a smile
"Same here governor" the President said without smiling back
The rest of the governor people in the room also stood up to greet the president, after which they all sat down for the meeting to begin.
The president scanned the faces of everyone in the room while frowning, he was not happy and everyone noticed it. As a matter of fact, they didn't expect him to be happy anyways. Lagos was under attack and nobody was happy about it.
"People are complaining, nobody in Nigeria is happy. It's all over the news both national and international, we need to put an end to this purple cult" the president said
"Your excellency, we're trying everything we can. We've even tried tracking their location but..." The ministry for defence paused "these people are just too good"
"Nonsense!" The president banged his hand on the table angrily "whether they're good or not, they must be captured"
"But how?" Martins said
The president just glared at him "you're the governor and yet you can't even save your people"
Martins just bent his head
"This is not a battle we can fight alone so I've decided to involve international forces"
Everyone in the room jerked their heads towards him and paid rapt attention
"Meaning?" The commissioner asked
"I'm going to make a call to the the president of USA, he can help us"
The room became more tensed and members of the oracle just glanced at eachother. They knew exactly what would happen if the Americans got involved, all their whole operations would be discovered and an international conflict may start. Martins coughed and spoke up
"I don't think that's necessary"
The president stared at him
"What do you mean it's not necessary, people are dying and it's only a matter of time before these bandits take over the entire country, not just Lagos"
"Sir I understand, but I really don't think involving the US president would solve anything" Martins said trying to convince him
The president just kept quiet
"I know we're in a state of crisis and all hope may seem lost now but we can't involve international forces. Imagine what other foreign countries would think of Nigeria" martins continued while everyone just listened to him
"They would see us as weak, that we can't fight our own battles. Nigeria is already seen as a dangerous country, we'd just make it worse by involving foreigners, the commonwealth may even remove Nigeria from the group if they hear about this. So your excellency i beg you, please don't involve the US government or any other government. Besides other African countries are already helping us"
As he finished his petty speech, the president just held his chin thinking about what he said. Part of him knew he was right, putting Nigeria in the US radar could ruin his campaign in 2027 but he also knew they needed help.
"Martin you're right, but I'll give it 5 months. If I don't see any results, I'll have no choice but to involve the US government" the President said firmly
Martin nodded while secret members of the oracle smiled. At least they bought some time to fix their mess before the world finds out their dirty secret.
"Well with that being said, i think we should put the country's fund into the military so they can track the exact location of the purple Lagoon" the Federal minster for defence said
"You're right" everyone nodded
"I've already instructed my men, we're looking everywhere for that member that fell off the roof of the official building. He's the only clue we have right now, if we find him then we can definitely find the rest of his gang" he continued
The president nodded, impressed
"Do you have any blood samples or DNA we can use to track him?" The president asked
"No they cleared everything, but we know he's badly injured. So my men are looking for him in every hospital in Lagos. We'll soon find him for sure" the minister said firmly
"Yes. The South African government will also deplore its army to help in the search" Luna said drily still thinking about her dead daughter
"Alright that's good. I guess that draws the conclusion to this meeting"
The president stood up and after greeting everyone and wishing a consoling message to Luna, left with his aids. Other officials soon left, leaving only members of the oracle
"That was close" kwame said "it's a good thing you convinced the president, Martin. The US government would do no good to the oracle"
"True. We need to come up with a plan to capture Kelvin, i mean mon'itei before the President does" Martin said
"Any plans?" Kwame asked looking at the others
They all just kept quiet, Luna was usually the wise one but ever since het daughter's death she has been cold
"Luna" Ada tapped her
"Huh" Luna flinched
"Are you okay?" Martin asked
"No I'm not. Honestly I'm tired, i don't think I can go on with this" Luna said nervously
"What do you mean? You want to back out now?!" Kwame glared at him
"Yes! Isn't it obvious?! We've already lost, these monsters are out to get us and there's nothing we can do!" She snapped
The gang just frowned at her
"Keep your head together Luna, don't forget you're one of us. You can't back out now. Mon'itei isn't the only dangerous one here, if you dare give up on us now, you'll regret it" Martin threatened
Luna just stared at them, suddenly realising she was with the wrong group. Nobody cared about how afraid she was. A teardrop escaped her eyes and she quickly wiped it
"Don't lose your head now, we'll win this battle" Ada said looking at her
Luna just kept quiet
With nothing left to say, they all just kept mute. The silence was suddenly interrupted by Amir bursting through the door, panting
The gang all turned towards him in shock
"Amir what's wrong?" Martin asked
"The...the..." Amir stammered
"Talk na and stop wasting my time, what the hell happened?!"
"The purple Lagoon___the whole city___people dropping dead" Amir rapped out
They all stared at him in horror
