Chapter 70 - Chapter 70 Thanks to Owl for his great support

From their builds, Douglas could tell that the two individuals were a man and a woman.

However, they were clad in armor styled after 'Beastformers,' and their faces were covered by full-face helmets, making it impossible for him to identify them.

Of course, this member of the Court of Owls wouldn't bother to remember two ordinary Talons.

The male of the two held a strange helmet in his hand.

The helmet had a streamlined design, its surface covered in intricate circuit patterns, with indicator lights blinking continuously, giving it a highly technological feel.

The only slightly odd thing was the prominent yellow danger sign printed on it, featuring a black skull and crossbones motif that exuded an ominous aura.

"Why are you kidnapping me?" Douglas shouted, his voice hoarse.

He hoped to get some clues, but the two opposite him didn't respond, merely approaching him silently, skillfully, and roughly.

The clasps on the helmet's edge automatically locked, securing Douglas's head firmly, and the cold material pressed against his skin, making him shiver.

After the securing was complete, the male finally spoke, his voice transmitted through the helmet's built-in amplifier, sounding mechanical and cold: "Are you Douglas Keller?"

Douglas was stunned by the question, and because of this momentary daze, he didn't answer in time, immediately followed by a violent vibration from above his head.

Immediately after, a strong current coursed through the helmet to his entire body; his body convulsed uncontrollably, every nerve screaming in pain, as if his whole body had been electrocuted.

He wanted to scream but could only emit muffled whimpers, and the World before his eyes began to blur and distort.

Just as he was about to lose consciousness, the electrocution stopped.

The man in the metal armor watched Douglas twitch on the restraint bed with cold eyes; once his body had calmed slightly and his breathing was still heavily fluctuating, he spoke again, his tone devoid of any emotion: "Are you Douglas Keller?"

"Yes... it's me!" Douglas gasped, his face covered in cold sweat, his eyes filled with terror, fearing another dreadful electric shock.

The male Talon's question was concise and sharp, like a sword piercing directly to the vital point: "Are you a member of the Court of Owls?"

Douglas's eyes darted, still holding onto a sliver of hope.

What if he could lie and get away with it?

He knew that once he admitted it, the consequences would be unimaginable; he was all too familiar with the methods of the Court of Owls, and traitors never came to a good end.

He forced himself to support his weakened body, his voice trembling as he said, "I'm not, I don't know what you're talking about!"

However, no sooner had he finished speaking than an even stronger current surged through his entire body again.

Douglas's body arched high, a pained shriek escaping his throat; he felt as if his internal organs were being scorched by the current, and his vision turned White, almost losing consciousness.

However, unconsciousness would be a reward; he remained conscious to feel the pain.

The current stopped again, and Douglas lay sprawled on the bed, gasping for air, White foam at the corners of his mouth.

The male Talon, however, showed no pity, his mechanical voice sounding again: "Are you a member of the Court of Owls?"

Douglas's gaze completely collapsed, tears mixing with sweat as they slid down his face; he struggled to open his mouth, his voice weak and despairing: "I... I am..."

The man nodded and pulled out a notebook and a pen from his waist.

Most people, even just wearing gloves, would find it difficult to write, but this man seemed unaffected.

"Name the members of the Court of Owls you know, at least three!"

Douglas was terrified by the previous two shocks; his body trembled uncontrollably, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down, not daring to hesitate for a moment: "Hank Wilson, Elena Carter, Edward Blake."

The man's fingers swiftly recorded in the notebook, then he looked up, and the eye area beneath his helmet flashed red: "Their true identities?"

Douglas swallowed hard, his voice choked with tears: "Hank Wilson is the largest investor in Gotham Bank, besides Wayne Group, controlling a large flow of the bank's funds. Elena Carter is a core member of the Mayor's party, with significant influence over municipal decisions. Edward Blake... he is the main person in charge of Queen Industries in Gotham; Queen Industries in Gotham is basically his one-man show!"

In another monitoring room, Gwen raised an eyebrow upon hearing this, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes.

She didn't expect... there was also Queen Industries involved.

She pondered, her fingers unconsciously tapping on the control panel.

However, according to Douglas's statement, this Queen Industries seemed to have a 'distant emperor' feel to it.

But it was also quite reasonable; Gotham's local powers have always been exclusive, and she had heard the surname Blake; it was an old, established local Gotham family.

So, it should be Green Arrow... no, Oliver's father was named Robert Queen, and he should be managing Queen Industries in Star City now.

And to make money in Gotham, they directly delegated power to the Blake family?

Back in the cell, the man in metal armor had no idea what his boss was thinking.

After waiting a while longer, he confirmed that the lie detector had not discharged any current and nodded.

Having recorded everything, he turned to glance at his female companion beside him.

His female companion didn't waste any words; upon receiving his gaze, she walked directly out of the room.

But it wasn't long before she returned.

Her seemingly slender body carried back a large pile of things.

When that large pile of scattered items was placed on the floor of the room, and the room's lights came on, Douglas's eyes instantly widened, almost popping out of their sockets.

Every single one of those items was clearly from his own home!

The incredibly thick safe still bore familiar fingerprint traces on its surface, and the confidential computer hidden in the study's secret compartment was now casually placed on top of it.

Various bank cards were neatly stacked together, and bank safe deposit box certificates were also neatly arranged.

"You... how do you have all these!?" Douglas's voice trembled violently.

And thinking that besides these, his home also had some antique paintings and calligraphies with no anti-theft measures whatsoever, he felt his heart bleeding.

Have these bastards emptied his house???

The man remained silent, picking up a bank card with his metal-gloved hand and waving it in front of Douglas's eyes, his mechanical voice sounding again: "Do you remember the password?"

Douglas's eyes were bloodshot, anger and fear intertwined; he completely forgot about the menacing lie detector beside him and screamed hoarsely, "You wish!"

His response was met with another intense electric shock. The moment the current surged through his body, Douglas's body uncontrollably arched into a shrimp-like shape, his teeth biting his lips until they bled, and inhuman shrieks escaped his throat.

When the current disappeared, he lay sprawled on the bed, his face ashen, his chest heaving violently.

"Remember the password?" The man's voice seemed to come from hell, devoid of any warmth.

Douglas weakly blinked his eyes, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down with difficulty, and he said feebly, "I... I do."

"What's the password?"

Douglas closed his eyes, tears streaming from the corners, and a few seconds later, he tremblingly spoke the password, word by word.
