Chapter song: Everywhere - Fleetwood Mac
Kenneth could never understand the concept of putting something out of one's mind. At least outside of the field.
No matter how hard he tried to forget something, to bury it deep and throw it away like a discarded piece of paper, the thought would always resurface. Usually when he least expected it.
It was like that thought experiment he'd read about. Try not to think of a polar bear, and you'll find that you'll be unable to get its image out of your mind. The man in white from the gala was Kenneth's polar bear. And his image was forever engraved in the grey matter of his brain.

It clicked open upon recognizing his student ID and reservation number. The screen next to the door beeped, alerting them that the room would be theirs for three hours.
