Chapter 1 - The Great Daemon

A young boy runs with great haste through a dark forest. He's being chased by hooded figures with lanterns. Strategically, the boy uses the darkness of the forest to lose them. The hooded pursuers pause and look around, trying to discern his location. After spending a brief moment to search, they run off.

Seeing them leave, the boy makes a break for an abandoned cabin, entering and immediately locking the door behind him. He drops his bag containing white candlesticks, chalk, and an old book. He mutters in frustration.

"The moment I begin those bastards will come running in. I need to be quick."

He meticulously arranges the candlesticks in a perfect circle, their polished surfaces gleaming in the dim light. Each one is positioned with care, creating an elegant symmetry that draws the eye inward. With a steady hand, he begins to draw a symbol around this circle, tracing delicate lines that weave together in a fluid motion.

As he steps back to check his work, the symbol reveals itself to be a Dahlia flower. After carefully checking the design, he retrieves a lighter from his pocket, its metal surface catching a glint of light. He ignites the candles one by one, the flames leaping to life and flickering softly, casting warm, dancing shadows against the walls.

The air fills with the subtle scent of melting wax.Stepping outside the circle, he takes a deep breath to steady himself, his pulse quickening with anticipation. He begins to chant.

"O great Daemon heed this call from a mortal who had betrayed god!"

Thunderous bangs on the door can be heard amidst the chant.

"I offer thee a path to the human world with my body as the gateway! If you wish to enjoy these earthly pleasures once more heed my call! Great Daemon Carmilla Catherine!"

The flames that lit the candles turned into a hypnotizing blue fire. The cloaks kick the door down and rush inside. One of them points his hand at the boy.

"Traitor of the H.O.L.Y. Order. For your crimes against God you will pay with your life!"

They approached him with their weapons drawn. As they closed in, an eerie hush fell over the room. Suddenly, the candles gained a new life, their flames dancing vigorously as if responding to an unseen force. They began to float and spin around the dahlia symbol, which glimmered ominously beneath their glow.

With each rotation, the flames intensified, swirling into a vibrant barrier of fire that encircled the boy. The warmth radiated outward, forming a fierce wall that cut him off from the cloaked figures, their shadows looming ominously beyond the blaze.

The flickering light cast wild and distorted shapes on the walls, creating an otherworldly atmosphere as the boy stood, heart pounding, in a ring of flickering shadows and ethereal flames.

He looks around, shocked at the paranormal activity happening around him.

 "Do not be afraid, boy."

The haunting voice snaps the boy's attention to the front.

"After all you summoned me, did you not?"

Standing before him was a statuesque woman, exuding an irresistible allure that seemed to capture the very essence of sophistication. Her voice, smooth and melodic, had a hypnotic quality capable of disarming even the most resolute of men, leaving them enchanted and vulnerable.

She wore an exquisite hat, large and white-brimmed, adorned with a striking dark blue dahlia that seemed to sway gently with her every movement, adding an air of elegance to her presence. Her long, flowing white dress cascaded elegantly to the ground, the fabric catching the light as it danced around her figure, while her silk-fitting black gloves reached up to her elbows, adding a touch of dramatic contrast.

Her long, raven-black hair framed her face like a silken curtain, the glossy strands glimmering under the soft light, creating a mesmerizing juxtaposition against her fair complexion. As she stood poised and captivating, the air around her seemed to radiate an intoxicating blend of mystery and charm, drawing him in like a moth to a flame.

Her dark blue eyes look down at him. Her lips formed a curious smirk.

"Ready to strike a deal?"

Upon hearing her question the boy snaps out of it and looks behind. Carmilla chuckles saying

"Don't worry about them. They will never be able to bypass my flames."

Hearing that causes the boy to calm down. He looks down for a moment, gathering his words before looking up with determination in his eyes.

"I'm ready, let's discuss the details."

Carmilla smiles at him, signaling him to start.

"I want access to your Hell spells." He says almost demandingly.

"And what do I get in exchange?" Carmilla replied.

The boy clutches his chest begrudgingly.

"My heart."

"Oh? And how will I teach you the spells when you're dead at my feet?"

Sensing Carmilla's interest, he keeps going.

"Because what I'm offering you isn't sacrifice or currency. It's the ability to walk amongst us humans!"

What the boy proposed was not only unthinkable but also impossible. If it were anyone else. When striking a deal with a daemon, you usually offer a body or a sacrifice of some kind. In exchange, you gain their hell spells or their personal favor. Allowing them to fight for you.

If it's a simple Daemon then it is no issue, but for a Great Daemon. Time on earth is a very desirable luxury for them.

"So you're saying I will be able to walk around with no restrictions?"Carmilla asks.

"So long as I'm alive."

Of course it wouldn't be so easy.

"My heart will act as a tether to keep you bound to this world."The boy explained.

"And if you die it's back to hell for me."

Carmilla says, not liking the idea of her great vacation ending prematurely.

"Now you have more of a reason to teach me your spells."

He snarkly replied with a grin to match.

"I suppose I do."

Carmilla offers the boy a handshake. He looks at her hand, hesitating.

"What are you waiting for? Shake this Daemon's hand and finalize our deal."

He finally accepts it. Carmilla smiles darkly, her eyes lighting up with sinister intent.

"And so it begins."
