Chapter 116 - Chapter 116: The First Descent

The sky tore open.

Not cracked.

Not fractured.

It opened.

Like something had forced its way through from the other side.

Darkness poured down—not like night, but like a liquid void, swallowing light, bending space, distorting reality itself.

And then—

A foot stepped through.

The moment it touched the air of the world, everything collapsed.

The ground caved inward.

Mountains in the distance trembled.

The very laws of aether screamed.

Lyra's pupils shrank.

"…No…"

It wasn't fully visible yet.

Only a silhouette.

Massive.

Towering.

Its form flickered between shapes, as if it didn't belong to this reality.

But its presence alone—

Was enough to crush the battlefield into silence.

Then—

Two eyes opened within the darkness.

Cold.

Ancient.

Aware.

"…so this… is where you've been hiding…"

Lyra's heart stopped.

That voice—

She knew it.

---

"Formation!" Orion's voice cut through the pressure instantly.

The Celestial Warriors moved without hesitation.

Orion stepped forward, placing himself slightly ahead of Lyra, his sword igniting with sharp, radiant energy.

Serena and Kael shifted to the left flank, their auras stabilizing despite the crushing weight pressing down on them.

Mia stayed near Rafael, her healing aura active, though her eyes remained locked on the descending entity.

"I can't fully stabilize him if that pressure keeps increasing…" she said through clenched teeth.

Rafael forced himself upright anyway. "Then don't. I'm not sitting this one out."

"You can barely stand."

"Then I'll fight sitting."

"Idiot."

Seraphina rose slightly into the air, wings flaring, her gaze calculating. "Its presence is destabilizing the aether field… we're already at a disadvantage."

Zane smirked faintly despite the tension. "Good. Makes it more interesting."

Emma adjusted her stance. "If that's your definition of interesting, we're about to have a great time."

Kai exhaled slowly, grounding himself. "No reckless moves. We don't know what this thing can do yet."

Sofia nodded. "Observation first. Then strike."

Nero's voice came low and steady. "No… we won't get that luxury."

All eyes returned to the sky.

Because the entity—

Was still descending.

---

Lyra couldn't move.

Her body responded.

Her mind didn't.

That voice…

It echoed inside her head, overlapping with memories she had tried to bury.

Fire.

Destruction.

Death.

Nyx standing above everything.

Unstoppable.

Unreachable.

A god of darkness.

Her breath became shallow.

"I can't…" she whispered.

Orion turned instantly.

"Lyra."

Her hands trembled.

"It's the same…" she said, her voice barely audible. "That pressure… that presence… it's just like him…"

Her vision blurred.

"I can't fight that again…"

For a moment—

Silence.

Then—

A hand tightened around hers.

Firm.

Warm.

Real.

Orion stepped closer, forcing himself into her line of sight.

"Look at me."

She hesitated.

"…Lyra."

Slowly—

Her eyes lifted.

Meeting his.

"That's not Nyx."

Her lips parted slightly.

"It feels like him…"

"I know."

His voice didn't waver.

"But it's not him."

The words anchored something.

Barely.

"But what if I freeze again?" she asked, fear raw in her voice. "What if I can't move when it matters?"

Orion's grip tightened.

"Then I'll move for you."

Her eyes widened slightly.

"And when you're ready—" he continued, his voice steady, unwavering "—you move with me."

Silence.

Her breathing slowed.

Just a little.

"You don't have to be fearless," he said. "You just have to keep going."

Something inside her cracked.

Not from fear.

From release.

"…Okay," she whispered.

Her fingers tightened around his.

"…I'll fight."

---

The moment she accepted it—

Her aether responded.

Not violently.

Not explosively.

But steadily.

Golden flames ignited around her again—but this time, they didn't flicker.

They flowed.

Like a calm, controlled current.

Serena's eyes sharpened. "She stabilized it again…"

"No," Nero said quietly.

"…She improved it."

Lyra inhaled slowly.

The fear was still there.

But it wasn't controlling her anymore.

She raised her hand—

Golden flames gathered, condensing into a sharper, denser form.

Not larger.

But stronger.

More precise.

"I won't let it decide how I fight," she said quietly.

Orion smirked slightly.

"Good."

The difference was clear now.

Before: Power reacting to fear.

Now: Power guided through fear.

A critical evolution.

---

Phase 1 — Opening Clash

The entity stopped descending.

Mid-air.

Then—

It moved.

Not slowly.

Not heavily.

But instantly.

It vanished—

And reappeared above them.

"MOVE!" Orion shouted.

The ground exploded as it struck downward.

BOOM—

The impact shattered everything within hundreds of meters.

Kael lunged forward first, his weapon igniting with power.

"Let's see what you are!"

He struck—

The blow connected.

But—

It passed through.

"…What?"

Phase 2 — Reaction

"It's not fully material!" Seraphina shouted.

Zane reacted instantly, redirecting his attack mid-motion.

"Then we force it to stabilize!"

Multiple attacks launched simultaneously—

Light.

Flame.

Energy.

They struck the entity—

This time, partially connecting.

It flickered violently.

"…interesting…" the voice echoed.

Then—

It retaliated.

A wave of dark energy burst outward.

BOOM—

Everyone was forced back.

Lyra slid across the ground, barely stabilizing herself.

"It adapts fast…" Kai muttered.

Phase 3 — Escalation

The entity raised one arm.

Dark energy condensed—

Then split into multiple streams, targeting each of them individually.

"Spread out!" Sofia shouted.

Emma deflected one attack—but was pushed back heavily.

Serena countered another—but her aura flickered.

Mia shielded Rafael—but the impact forced her to her knees.

Lyra stepped forward.

"I can redirect it!"

She raised her hand—

Golden flames expanded—

The incoming attack curved—

And was redirected upward.

BOOM—

It exploded harmlessly in the sky.

Orion glanced at her.

"Good. Again!"

Phase 4 — Turning Point

The entity paused.

Watching.

Analyzing.

Then—

Its form stabilized slightly.

More solid.

More defined.

"…adaptation confirmed…"

The pressure doubled instantly.

Cracks spread across the battlefield again.

Seraphina's expression darkened. "It's learning too fast…"

Nero's eyes narrowed. "Then we overwhelm it before it completes stabilization."

Phase 5 — Result Shift

Orion stepped forward.

"Everyone—combined strike."

No hesitation.

No doubt.

The Celestial Warriors moved as one.

Energy gathered.

Power surged.

Lyra stepped beside Orion.

Their auras synchronized.

"Now."

They attacked—

A massive, unified strike surged toward the entity—

Golden flame at its core.

BOOM—

The impact shook the sky itself.

The entity was forced back.

For the first time.

Silence followed.

Then—

A low chuckle echoed.

"…so this… is your current limit…"

The darkness around it began to condense further.

"…disappointing."

---

"He took that head-on…" Kael muttered.

Serena clenched her fists. "And barely reacted…"

Mia's voice was tight. "We can't sustain that level of output for long."

Rafael smirked faintly. "Then we make it count faster."

Emma shook her head. "That's not how this works."

Kai looked at Lyra and Orion. "We need a new approach."

Sofia nodded. "Direct confrontation won't be enough."

Zane grinned slightly. "Then we break it differently."

Nero's gaze remained fixed on the entity.

"…No."

Everyone looked at him.

"We're not fighting a body."

"…We're fighting something behind it."

Silence.

Then—

Lyra's eyes widened slightly.

"…The crack…"

---

The battlefield was worse now.

More unstable.

More broken.

The enemy wasn't weakened.

It was adapting.

Evolving.

And they had just confirmed something terrifying—

This wasn't its full form.

Not even close.

---

The entity slowly raised its head.

Its form began to solidify further—

More defined.

More real.

"…enough testing."

The crack in the sky widened again—

Far beyond what it was before.

And from within it—

More darkness moved.

Not one presence.

Multiple.

Lyra's breath caught.

"…No way…"

The entity looked down at them.

"…you will serve as the first step."

Behind it—

Shapes began to form.

Dozens.

Maybe more.

Orion's grip tightened on his sword.

"…This just became a war."

The sky split wider—

And the second wave began to descend.

And this time… they weren't alone.
