"Where the hell did I get dumped? Is this even the same country?"
In an abandoned factory, a teen stared blankly at his surroundings. His name was Kairei, and he used to be a delivery guy in a yellow jacket.
Right before he appeared in this abandoned factory, Kairei had been delivering an order. The elevator he took suddenly malfunctioned and plunged. Even though he frantically pressed every button, the free fall didn't stop.
Just when Kairei thought he was dead for sure, his consciousness faded. When he opened his eyes again, he was already in this abandoned factory.
[Host detected as awake. Legacy System initializing. Starter Gift Pack issued. Would the host like to open the gift pack?]
Still confused, Kairei heard a cold synthesized voice in his mind.
"Host? System? Starter Gift Pack? Did I… transmigrate?"
Even though he was busy every day delivering food, Kairei read webnovels whenever he had time—and listened to audiobooks while on the job. He was more than familiar with the tropes of transmigration.
So the moment he heard that voice, he realized he'd probably crossed over.
"System, you there? Did I transmigrate? Where did I land? Come on, give me an explanation!"
Kairei tried to ask for details, but there was no response. Whether he spoke out loud or repeated the questions in his head, the system acted like it had crashed—no reaction at all.
"Why is there no response at all?"
After waiting a bit and getting nothing, Kairei remembered the earlier prompt and tried silently saying that he wanted to open the Starter Gift Pack.
The next second, a translucent blue screen popped up in front of him, with a big gift box icon on it. The box vanished an instant later, and several items appeared on the screen.
At the same time, detailed information about the items and the system flooded into his mind.
First came the system overview. From the incoming info, Kairei now knew what this system was: it was called the Legacy System. Its function was simple and blunt—it allowed him to obtain legacies from the system.
There were two kinds of legacies. The first was a Character Legacy. When acquired, he would receive that character's abilities and knowledge. Of course, it wasn't a one-click max-level process; he would still have to study and train.
Only by continuously mastering the skills and knowledge that character possessed—until he fully grasped them—would that character's legacy be considered complete. When one Character Legacy ended, a new one would unlock.
The second kind was a Faction Legacy. After obtaining it, the entire faction would be transferred to Kairei. Just like Character Legacies, Faction Legacies also needed to be unlocked step by step.
As for how to unlock a Faction Legacy, that depended on which faction it was. Different factions had different unlock methods.
Inside the Starter Gift Pack Kairei had just opened were two legacies: one Character Legacy and one Faction Legacy.
Besides those, there were other items. One was a Storage Space—one thousand meters long, wide, and high—with time completely halted inside.
Anything stored inside would be exactly the same when taken out as when it was put in.
However, the space could only store non-living matter. Living things could not be stored.
There was also a skill called Language Mastery. With it, Kairei didn't need to worry about not understanding the language of this world.
The last item was a full set of identity documents.
"This Starter Gift Pack is pretty thoughtful. It knows I'm a black-registered nobody in this world and even gave me an identity set."
Curious, Kairei took out the IDs. The instant he did, detailed information about his new identity flowed into his mind.
"So it's this world… Spr—no, Shokugeki no Soma. And the system even rolled my body back to my teenage years!"
After processing the info, Kairei understood where he was: the world of Shokugeki no Soma, one of the most famous food anime back in his past life.
As for his current identity, he was a transfer student to Totsuki—and unlike Soma, he didn't need to pass any transfer exams. He could enroll directly.
On top of that, the system had kindly prepared a place for him to live and a decent amount of money. Not a fortune, but enough for several years of normal expenses.
Kairei accepted Language Mastery right away. As for the Storage Space, he only needed to will it and anything he touched could be stowed inside.
After that, he turned his attention to the two legacies—the system's core feature.
He opened the Character Legacy first. A moment later, a humanoid silhouette appeared on the translucent screen.
"Is that… the 'Cloud-Piercing Dragon' Kaiyu?! System, you didn't do this on purpose, did you? I'm Kairei and you gave me Kaiyu?"
Kairei knew that figure well. The man was Kaiyu, from another food anime, Chuuka Ichiban! (Zaelum: Cooking Boy Master, extremely good anime! check it out, you won't regret it!)
He was the leader of the Dark Cooking Society. Before the Culinary Society emerged, Kaiyu was without a doubt the greatest antagonist.
If not for the MC being literally favored by fate—with heaven itself helping him—Kaiyu's ability might have allowed him to control everything.
Upon activating a Character Legacy, the character's innate talents would be fed back to Kairei, while their knowledge and skills would require him to study and train on his own.
Even so, Kaiyu's innate talents alone were enough to make Kairei ecstatic. As the boss of the Dark Cooking Society and the biggest villain before the Taiji faction showed up, there was no way Kaiyu's abilities would be weak.
Kaiyu's innate talents were outrageous. In the Chuuka Ichiban world, the most famous is the Super Five Senses; Kaiyu possessed four of them—Super Touch, Super Vision, Super Hearing, and Super Smell. The only one he lacked was Super Taste.
That was the exact opposite of Maoxing, whose abilities included Super Taste and several techniques that combine with it.
Thankfully, these talents were controllable. While Kairei would still need to further develop them, at least for now they were manageable. Otherwise, with senses this amplified, he'd probably be tortured half to death already.
After all, these are all enhancements to the five senses.
