Chapter 7 - It's okay to not be okay right?

Mahi's POV:

After talking with Priyan , I felt that this case is exactly the same that I thought it would be and then Priyan said something that was so unexpected of him" You and Nikhil Go to the person who filed the report and see what's exactly the case about" he said. Then I said to him that " You never allow that do person in the same case but now what's happening"

No you really need him because he is good at observing things I've seen him myself so go with him" he said ....

And then I myself for that really he's a good actually very good observer...

When I think back to college, one moment always comes to my mind clearly. It was during our second year, on a day when the classroom was full of chaos before a presentation. Everyone was complaining about the projector not working, and the professor looked stressed.

But Nikhil… he was the only calm one in the room.

I remember watching him stand up quietly and walk to the side table where the cables were a complete mess. He didn't rush or show off. He just crouched down and started checking each wire like he always did — carefully and patiently.

He noticed small things that most people ignored: the loosened HDMI cable, the tiny light on the adapter that wasn't blinking, the way the connector wasn't clicked in properly.

When he told the professor, "Ma'am, it just needs to be pushed in completely," she fixed it, and the projector lit up instantly. The whole class reacted like he had performed some sort of magic.

I just smiled to myself.

Back then, Nikhil and I were together, and this was one of the things I quietly loved about him. He wasn't dramatic or loud. He simply paid attention. To everything. To everyone. And sometimes… to me more than anyone else.

I still remember leaning toward him and saying softly, "You notice things no one else does."

He had given me that small, familiar smile — the one that wasn't big, but felt warm enough to stay in my memory even now.

That moment wasn't about the projector at all. It was about the kind of person he was. Observant. Steady. Someone who saw the world in details.

And sometimes, he saw me in details too — even the ones I never said out loud.

He was the person i always loved.

Well thinking everything I went back to my office and witness that he was talking with Roohi in a very delightful manner his charm works everywhere "A cheater is always a cheater" i exclaimed.

Then I first time talk to him directly" Nikil we have to go the person who filed the report Mrs. Urmila Rajpal" He looked at me amazed then just nodded.

As we went through the elevator and towards the parking lot we didn't said a word . The silence will comfortable enough.

Then he spoke" do you think that she will say anything if it is not forced, if it is forced then the victim will show clear signs but if isn't then what's the chances that she will speak the truth" . I know she will not see a single word but still what's the harm on trying" many people don't try they just leave You know that better right? " I said

" Mahu " You never let me to explain anything! He almost yelled at me but his voice was stiff. After 5 years I'm hearing that name that name that I thought was special and only for me I don't want him to call me that but a strange feeling of me didn't protest it and I didn't ask him to explain me I Just remain quiet.

As we reach to Utpal path colony we asked for Urmila Rajpal and then one person showed us the exact address towards her home and we went there it was a small house but it seemed comfortable as we went there I ran the bell...

She looked like someone the world had slowly forgotten.

Her clothes hung loosely on her as if they remembered a stronger version of her that she no longer was. She sat quietly in a corner, hands folded in her lap, her fingers shaking slightly as though even staying still took effort. Her eyes… they weren't just tired. They looked lonely — the kind of loneliness that comes from having no one left to call her name.

When she spoke, her voice came out weak and thin, like she wasn't used to being heard anymore.

The lines on her face weren't just from age — they looked like the aftermath of years of silent struggles. And the sadness in her expression didn't come from one moment; it felt like it had been building slowly, day after day, until it settled there permanently.

She had spent a lifetime caring for others, and now she was facing her final years almost entirely alone.

"Yes". She said ...

Urmila Rajpal? I said she nodded

Actually we are from Singhania 's law firm we wanted to know about The accident that occurred where three of your family members passed away can you please tell us what really happened? She tried to close the door but Nikil held it strongly....

Please ma'am er can help you through this...

He said ." What can you help when you don't know anything Just leave from here.." Then from the background a small girl voice lingerd " Dadi kaun hai? Her eyes brightened she was not more than 4 years old.

But Bhuvan rajpal only had one child so she??....
