Trunks: Argh... This seems like such a perilous climb, *Trunks said out of the blue, leading the trio up into the looming abyss.*
The path was narrow, uneven, and littered with loose stones. Every step required careful balance—one wrong move and they'd tumble all the way back down. Goten stuck close behind Melody, ready to catch her if the ground gave way. Being sandwiched between the two guys wasn't as weird as it might have initially seemed, especially with her own glow casting eerie, dancing shadows against the rocky walls. Ahead… was that a faint glimmer of light? Or just wishful thinking?
Melody: Is that what I think it is, or are my eyes playing tricks on me? *Melody asked, peeking out from around Trunks's left arm.*
Trunks: *He squinted—then his eyes widened.* No, that's definitely light.
The glow pulsed faintly ahead—a soft, ethereal blue shimmer. Could it be the Soulstone? Or maybe just a crack in the mountain letting daylight through? They quickened their pace, hearts pounding with a mixture of caution and hope.
As the incline grew even steeper, Goten protectively wrapped his arms around Melody's waist from behind to keep her steady. Melody leaned into him slightly, deeply grateful for the support. The slope was becoming genuinely dangerous; stones slipped and rattled underfoot, and the ancient masonry creaked louder with every step.
Trunks reached a hand back to help guide her too—this climb was no joke. But that blue glow… it was getting brighter. They were so close.
...or so they thought.
Just as they rounded a sharp bend, the path abruptly ended. A solid, impenetrable wall of rock blocked their way. And the mysterious blue glow? It was nothing more than a narrow crack in the stone, filtering sunlight down from the surface far above.
The Soulstone wasn't here.
Trunks groaned, kicking a loose pebble in sheer frustration.
Melody: I'm sorry, *Melody said, her voice dropping as disappointment washed over her.*
It looked like they would have to turn back and creep into the eeriness below.
Goten: *He sighed, giving her shoulder a reassuring squeeze.* It's okay. We'll just check the other path.
With a collective deep breath, they turned around, carefully descending the treacherous slope once more. Below them, the downward tunnel yawned like a gaping maw… cold, dark, and impossibly deep.
There was no turning back now.
