Chapter 107 - Ep. 106 - Into the Gaping Maw! The Terrifying Abyss of the Lower Tunnels!

The temperature plummeted the further they descended into the mountain's throat. If the upper path was a test of balance, this lower tunnel was a test of absolute courage. The air grew thick, smelling of damp earth and something ancient—something that hadn't seen the sun in centuries.

Trunks: *He held his hand out, sensing the energy signature of the cavern.* Keep your guard up, guys. The energy down here... it feels heavy.

Goten kept one hand hovering near his side, his eyes scanning the pitch-black corners. Melody's soft glow was their only defense against the absolute dark, but as they went deeper, the shadows seemed to stretch and fight back against her light, almost as if they were alive...The shadows twitched—resisting the warmth of Melody's light. A sharp chill crawled up Goten's spine.

Something wasn't right here. The air felt oppressive, like the mountain itself was breathing around them. Trunks slowed his steps, every warrior instinct screaming that danger lurked just ahead in the blackness. A low, distant drip echoed through the cavern… followed by a strange, unsettling sound that neither of them could quite identify.

Melody: I don't like this... I don't like it at all, *Melody said, her voice shivering. It wasn't from the cold, but from pure fear. It was the very first sliver of fear she had shown since everything started—even after the radical DNA alteration she and Goten had both shared.*

Goten: *Instinctively he stepped closer to Melody, his hand finding hers and squeezing it tight. Even he felt the unease crawling up the back of his neck.* Stay close, *he murmured, his voice steady but tense.*

Trunks clenched his fists. This place was entirely unnatural. The darkness didn't just swallow light… it felt like it was watching them. It was as if the eerie silence and the frigid air were actively feeding on their souls. The trio huddled closer together, their breaths pluming visible in the frigid air. Every second spent down here drained their energy, like the mountain itself was siphoning away their life force.Goten's ki flickered unnaturally, becoming harder and harder to focus. Even Melody's natural glow dimmed slightly, struggling against whatever dark force pervaded the abyss. Trunks gritted his teeth. They had to keep moving. Standing still felt a hundred times worse.
