Chapter 109 - Ep. 108 - Shielding a Friend! The Desperate Defense Against Psychic Terror!

The psychic voice tore through Goten's mind like a jagged blade, making his vision swim. But as he looked down and saw Trunks completely paralyzed on the floor, teeth gritted in agony, something snapped inside him. He didn't care how much ki this place was siphoning—he wasn't letting anyone touch his friend. Stepping over Trunks, Goten let out a low growl, his purple eyes flashing dangerously as he faced the multi-eyed mass of shadows. Beside him, Melody stepped up, her own white hair whipping around her as she prepared to build a wall of defense...

Goten's ki erupted—not in a wild explosion, but in a controlled, razor-sharp flare. The Obsidian power surged just beneath the surface of his skin, aggressively pushing back against the orb's draining effect. Melody slapped her hands together. A shimmering barrier of pure white energy materialized around Trunks, shielding him entirely from the creature's suffocating psychic assault. The shadow-creature hissed, sensing their sudden defiance. For the first time, the malice in its eyes turned to genuine anger.

Soul-reaper: *But as quickly as lightning, that anger twisted into twisted amusement. A loud, roaring laughter erupted within the two standing warriors' minds.* You actually believe you worms stand a chance at defeating me? I will have you know that Lord Beerus himself could not conquer this dark void!

Goten: *Goten's lip curled. He hated arrogance—especially from a monster that had just brought his brother-in-arms to his knees.* Beerus isn't here, *Goten growled, his voice low but laced with lethal intent.* But we are.

Melody cracked her knuckles, keeping her focus split as the barrier held firm around Trunks. She dropped into a perfect battle stance. The orb might be an ancient terror... but it had never faced altered Saiyan hybrids before.

Soul-reaper: *The psychic laughter stopped abruptly.* Wait... You are serious?

The orb's shadows writhed in sudden hesitation, its absolute certainty cracking for a split second. It had expected crippling fear, begging, and despair—not two formidable warriors standing tall and ready to throw down.

Goten: *He didn't give it a single second to recover.* Dead serious.

In a brilliant flash of white and purple light, he launched himself forward like a rocket, his fist reared back and aiming straight for the shadow-creature's core!
