Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 - Beastwomen

Kavian kept scanning me up and down. The females in my family had always been generously endowed, and it used to cause a lot of problems in my world. In this new world, it was the same. I could feel his slimy eyes on me, noticing every curve on my body. His eyes were fixed on my cleavage, his stare cemented.

Thalen did not like the way he was now eyeing me and swiftly held me and carried me out. Even on the street, eyes started to leer at me. A short woman with a pretty face being held by a lion as her mate was surprising. Lions were one of the few tribes here who rarely crossbred and only took Lionesses who were typically tall, muscular, and rough. I did not fit any of those categories.

A few Lion beastmen walked past us as I noticed the women they were with were the complete opposite of me.

I wonder why Thalen chose me... It's not as if I possess any of the discerning features of a Lioness. The Geographic channel did an episode on Lions, and it stated that lionesses were the ones who hunt, so I should not be the best candidate.

"Look at that girl... is that master Thalen's woman?" I hear someone whisper through the crowds. Men's eyes were changing, women bearing their fangs at me and me. I look around and see that, even with a mix of different beasts, women similar to me, or Rani, are not visible. Even ones who looked beautiful were donned with muscles and scars all over. I could not help but feel a sense of worry for the people of this world, the amount of violence they have to go through to survive.

I lean down to Thalen's ear and whisper, "Um... why do you guys not have normal girls here? Most are all muscled as hell, and it seems like it's not that beastmen hate non-muscular women."

Thalen could not help but laugh, "Well, it's because looks do not pay. What will you do if you can't even do anything to survive life? It's like growing flowers. You can't eat it, it's just there to look pretty. This city only takes in useful people. Most beauties are not, so it's quite simple."

I thought about this and came to the conclusion that it was a pretty valid point. It seemed that in this world, unlike mine, beauty only takes you so far.

"Wait, then what about me? Why did you bring me here and make a bond with me?" I pull away a bit, looking at Thalen with a raised brow, questioning his decisions.

"Unlike most men, I am strong enough to hunt and feed a dozen or so people myself with little effort. I dont need to look for a woman based on their appetite for raising and feeding my family and me." Thalen let out a small chuckle, a rich sound escaping his lips as I felt his chest vibrate with each laugh.

"Hey..." I frowned, putting the pieces together, "Does that mean I am supposed to be nothing but a pretty flower that is useless?"

I tug on his collar, pissed at what I thought he was trying to insinuate. His chuckle turned into a full-on laugh, and the bystanders were looking even more freely than they did before. I went red in the face and tried to dig my face into his chest to hide myself.

Thalen then stopped walking, and the noises of people talking had lessened. I finally removed my face from his chest to realise we had reached the end of the road and were now at the clinic where Luman was.

"Trust me, Ivy, you are anything but a pretty flower that sits there looking pretty. You are more than that," he stared at me. It was as if he knew something about me that I did not. Using his face to his advantage, he had that confident grin accompanied by his sharp eyes. He had come to know the fact that I was smitten by his good looks already at such a short time.

Back inside the depressing room, filled with death, I watched Lumen work through the patients. He worked meticulously, cleaning his hands between each patient. The smell was still intense. Still, the conditions had drastically improved. Half of the patients here were alive because of me. I was unsure whether it was a good thing or not, as the action required for this to happen was not particularly extreme.

A world where sterilisation and clean materials were near impossible to find unless it was from a healer. The lack of basic items or basic knowledge was affecting the people in this world, but I knew I could help them.

I need to take advantage of this system I have received as much as possible! The people here... with my modern items and my knowledge as a doctor, I can do this. I can't just let them be, and if I can also enjoy the benefits, it's a win-win!

Thalen placed me in the chair at the corner of the room, carefully to make sure my leg would not get hurt.

"Ah! Ivy! Thalen! It's good to see you come by again. What can I do to help? Is your leg feeling better?" Lumen walked towards us, grabbing a towel an attendant had handed to him, "Oh wow. It's good to see you in proper clothes compared to the weird items you came in with yesterday. You look more... like a female now."

Luman eyed me up and down. It had become evident to Thalen too, of his actions. As if he could read Luman's mind, he took a slight step forward as he came close to me.

"You don't have to stop work on the account of us," Thalen stated, clearly trying to tell Luman to back off.

"Cam down," Luman raised his hands in defence. He knew Thalen was not someone he wanted to mess with. He treasured his life over his desires. "I just wanted to check on her leg. See if it's healing well."

I tugged on Thalen's clothes and raised a brow at him. He trusted Luman enough to step aside, allowing him to check my wounds. After all, he was the only healer in this city.

I raised my dress just enough so that he could look at my wound. His cold and rough fingers brushed against my thigh as he unwrapped the bandage. I held my breath as he could not help but admire my smooth and pale skin as he did.

This girl really is strange. How come she is of age, but not a single scar can be seen on her body? I doubt she is that strong that she never got scarred, even Thalen has a scar on his back!

"It seems to be going well. It won't scar so badly, a great scar of survival, I guess." Luman spoke as if it were a good thing, to which I scrunched up my face in utter displeasure.

"Survival? Are you crazy? This perfectly smooth skin I have maintained even after high levels of stress studying to be a doctor, and now it's been scarred by rabid creatures?" I let out my irritation, seeing that the beastpeople saw scars in a different manner, was frustrating.

I was not obsessed too much with looks, but I would prefer it if I did not have a massive scar on my skin. It's not like one would voluntarily want one in a normal world.

"If you don't like it, I will find a way to remove it." Thalen was already siding with me, kneeling down and covering the wound back up with new bandages.

Luman had looked at him as if he had said the most stupid thing in the world. Thalen seemed to have quickly started to understand that I am not them, I am different, and he was fine with it.

"It's ok, I will be able to do that myself, but thanks." I let out a big grin. I was thankful for Thalen. Without him, I would be lost. Maybe I would have already gone crazy in this strange place. "Anyway! I came here to give you something, Lumen."

"If it's your time, I shall happily accept the offer!" Luman smiled at me, seeing that I was not really carrying anything. The only things we had were a few clothes and bags of salt, nothing much that he would need.

"Well... that's not what I was offering, but I do wish to spend more time. I wanted to offer you a deal." I cleared my throat, unsure how to explain my offer. The thought of it was embarrassing. "I wanted to know if you would like to be... some sort of disciple?"

Hearing this, Thalen was shocked by what I had just said, boring a hole into my face with his questioning stare. Lumen kept a friendly smile on his face, but ,he also seemed confused and reluctant to the offer.
