ALEX'S POINT OF VIEW
The Reyes Corporation building was almost empty when I arrived. Just a few security guards doing their rounds and the night cleaning crew. The elevator ride to the top floor felt like it took forever, even though it was only thirty seconds.
I went straight to my office, not bothering to turn on most of the lights. Just the desk lamp. I logged into my computer and pulled up the security network. The Reyes Corporation had contracts with half the city's surveillance systems. If Elena's car had driven through any major intersection, I'd be able to find it.
I entered the vehicle information. License plate number, make and model of the car, and color. Then I set the time parameters. Nine AM to now. Almost twelve hours. Twelve hours since Elena left the house.
The system started searching.
