Chapter 1 - Heaven Has a No-Fun Policy

Everything around me became blurry as I staggered down the street, holding my chest tight.

"Holy crap…what the fuck is happening….Oh my!…..not here… not now…"

I felt a sharp pain going from my ribs to my arm like someone had shoved a live wire inside me.

My vision swam. Cars honked, people shouted, faces turned blurry.

My knees hit the pavement. Cold concrete. Cold everything.

"So this is how I go?" I muttered through ragged breaths. "I'm really… gonna die a virgin?" "This is it No fireworks, no dramatic confession of love, just this sidewalk smelling vaguely of hot dog water? I saved myself for this? I'm so disappointed in myself, and my tombstone? It'll just say: 'A life tragically unalived.' They'll probably put a little digital counter next to my age: 'Relationships: 0.'"

Someone screamed for help. People came running over, their voices mixing with sirens in the distance.

I could hear someone yelling at me "keep your eyes open, man!"

But my chest felt like a big rock was just sitting on it.

The last thing I saw was the streetlight above me twisting into a bright, fast circle.

Then—darkness.

"His pulse is weak! Get the crash cart!"

BEEP... BEEP... BEEP...

A weird mix of voices and the smell of bleach hit me…. maybe antiseptic who knows.

My eyelids were stuck together with spiritual superglue. I managed to force them open, and a blinding light attacked my eyeballs.

Then I saw Her.

A nurse leaned over me — and gaddamit, she was stunning asf.

Slim waist, petite body, perfect curves, and a face that could make a monk think twice about his vows.

Her uniform hugged her body like it was designed by temptation itself. It was medically inappropriate how good she looked.

I think i overheard a doctor yelling something about an EKG… don't know what that is tho, but my entire focus was on the way the fluorescent light caught the shine of her hair.

And that bum — good lord — it looked like it had gravitational pull.

If I wasn't dying, I might've started praying for sin.

"Sir, can you hear me?" she said, voice like soft honey. "Stay with us!"

Alright alright, no problem. I'd stay with her anywhere.

Her hands pressed against my chest — gentle but firm — and my brain stopped processing medical urgency.

Then I realized something crazy: This is it. The closest physical contact I'll ever get.

Then suddenly….

Everything stopped.

The noise. The beeping. The movement.

The world froze mid-frame. The nurse hung in place, motionless, her hand inches above my heart.

A calm, genderless voice echoed from above.

"Time of death… approaching."

The light around me rippled, turning gold. Out of it stepped a figure cloaked in radiance — face obscured, voice echoing with authority.

"Soul No. 1478. You are at the end of your mortal life."

I stared at the glowing being. "Wait—no no, no, no, no, no! I'm not ready to die!"

"It is your appointed time."

"I haven't even kissed anyone!" I blurted. "Not once! I never even— y'know—held someone, touched, connected! You're telling me I lived thirty years for nothing?!"

The being was silent for a moment. Then a faint sound like a sigh rippled through the room.

"You lived a pure, untouched life. Too pure. Your soul remains… incomplete."

I squinted. "Incomplete? So being a virgin is now a spiritual disability?!"

"You lack one of humanity's core experiences — intimacy. Not lust, but connection."

"Then give me a few more minutes!" I shouted. "You froze time, right? Just let me—" I pointed weakly at the nurse. "Let me hold her waist. Or— or her bum. Just once!"

The angel tilted its head. "You wish to experience intimacy by grabbing your caretaker?"

"Uhmm for research purposes," I insisted, pushing the limit. "And look, if her bum is a no-go area, can I at least have a quick, friendly hug? A brief, hand-on-the-shoulder moment? Just a baseline connection to prove I'm human!"

"Denied."

"Of course it's denied," I groaned. "Figures heaven would have a no-fun policy."

The figure raised a glowing hand, and a translucent red screen appeared in the air.

[Initiating Rebirth Program]

[Codename: The Pure One]

[Cause of Death: Cardiac Arrest (Lonely)]

[Eligibility: Conditional Rebirth]

"Since you desire the experience of intimacy so strongly, the heavens will grant you another chance."

My eyes widened. "Wait—seriously?"

"You will not return as yourself. You will enter the bodies of others who died unfulfilled, like you. Help them find the intimacy they lacked in life."

I blinked. "So I'm going to be a puppet master for lonely people? Do I get to keep my own brain? What happens if I mess up and they end up divorced in five years? Is that on my permanent soul record?"

The figure ignored my panic. "For your first mission, we shall send someone… experienced. A specialist in the arts of love."

I gulped.

"You're sending me a celestial sex instructor?" The title 'Archangel of Sensual Guidance' flashed on the screen, and my face felt really hot.

"I feel like this is going to be really weird. I didn't even know Heaven had a department for... that."

"A Soul Mentor," the voice corrected, calm but firm.

"Sure, sure. Same thing."

The angel raised a hand again, and the frozen world started moving. The nurse's voice returned mid-sentence—

"—can you hear me, sir?"

I tried to answer, but my throat seized.

The heart monitor let out a long, desperate wail.

Everything went blurry.

BEEP—BEEP—BEEEEEEEEEP.

And just like that, my world went dark again.

When I opened my eyes, I wasn't in the hospital anymore.

I was floating in a huge, empty gold space.

The same voice echoed gently:

"Welcome to the Afterlife Transition Zone. Prepare yourself, Pure One. Your lessons begin now."

I groaned. "Yeah, well, next time give me a signal before you pull me out. I could've at least held the nurse's waist!"

The voice ignored me.

[DING!]
