Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Dinner and a Conversation with Freya.

As soon as I stepped inside, I couldn't help but feel nervous. It was the first time I'd given flowers to anyone.

What if Hestia doesn't like them?

Or doesn't want to be in a relationship with me?

Even though I'm not going to ask her out, giving flowers means something. And usually, you give them to someone you like. And I don't think Hestia is so stupid as to not understand this and consider it just a gift to her "daughter."

"It smells delicious." I said automatically, smelling the aroma.

Could it be that Hestia decided to cook for me?

But does she even know how to cook? I mean, the smell is mouth-watering, and she's supposedly the Goddess of the Hearth, according to mythology. But in reality, the gods of this world are quite different from the mythology of my previous world.

"I'm home!" I decided to say loudly enough for Hestia to hear, and indeed, a few seconds later, Hestia appeared from the doorway, wearing an apron and a scarf around her hair.

"Welcome back! Come to the table, the food is almost ready. Syr, set the table." Hestia said.

Syr?

What's Freya doing here?

Although it's a stupid question, of course she's here for me. After all, I'm quite unique in her eyes, and she could probably even fall in love with me—well, not quite, but I think she just likes everything beautiful, and I definitely fall into that category, and I'm probably number one... right?

In any case, I need to put my narcissism aside for now.

"Hestia." I said, to which she looked at me.

I sighed again and removed my hands from behind my back, where I'd been hiding the bouquet of flowers.

"These are for you." I said, feeling my cheeks heat up. I hoped I didn't look too red.

She looked at the bouquet, and I was pleased to see her blushing too. She lowered her head and walked toward me.

She took the bouquet of flowers and said quietly,

"Thank you... They're very beautiful."

I could only be glad she liked them.

"Okay, go to the table, and I'll find a vase for these little ones." she said, and quickly left.

I certainly saw how the tips of her ears had turned very red...

Heading toward the table, I spotted Syr, or rather Freya, who had almost finished setting the table.

Hearing the sound of my footsteps, she straightened up and turned around, greeting me with a snow-white smile.

"Good evening, Lady Evernight. I hope you don't mind if I dine with you tonight?" Freya asked, to which I shook my head.

Actually, I liked Freya, even when I watched anime in my past life, so I certainly didn't dislike her.

"I'd be delighted." I replied simply.

"Well, thank you." Freya said.

"And Syr, you don't need to address me so formally. I'm not a noblewoman or anything. Just Evernight will do." I said.

"Okay, I'll take that into consideration." I said.

As soon as we finished talking, Hestia entered, carrying trays containing... Kari?

Does this world even have kari? Although that was a stupid question, considering in my past life, it was anime.

As soon as we sat down at the table, Hestia immediately served us each a portion, and we tried...

"So delicious!" she almost exclaimed.

Hestia raised her head and proudly puffed out her chest, causing it to sway, making it a real eye-candy.

"Well, of course, it's all for my beloved 'daughter'... And Syr, she helped me." she replied quietly, but we still heard her.

Freya simply smiled, then turned her gaze to me.

"Evernight, I heard you went into the dungeon alone today. Did you have any problems?" Freya asked.

"No, that dungeon... was rather boring." I said, continuing to eat.

"Boring?" Freya asked.

"Well, yes. I walked all the way to the fiftieth floor and didn't see anything interesting." I said, and at that moment, Hestia and Freya simply stared at me.

Okay, Freya, she doesn't know about my strength, but Hestia...

"I see..." Freya said mysteriously, then looked at the countertop, then at me, then at Hestia.

The thing is, there was a vase of flowers on the countertop, the ones I'd given Hestia. She didn't say anything, but she smiled, causing Hestia to visibly blush, as she had seen Freya's actions.

We finished our dinner soon enough, and of course, I volunteered to wash the dishes, and so did Freya, while Hestia cleared the table.

"So, what does the goddess Freya want?" I asked when I felt Freya behind me.

"I was right, you're quite unusual." Freya said, coming up to me and also starting to wash the dishes.

"Is that so?" I asked, smiling.

"Yes, besides your beauty, which puts me to shame, I also can't see your soul, and when I try, my head hurts terribly." she said.

"So who are you?" she added.

"Just a traveler from another world." I said, seeing no point in hiding it.

"Another world?" Freya asked.

"Yes, but in fact, I can travel to different worlds." I said.

"Amazing..." Freya muttered.

"Now I understand why you're such a mystery." Freya added.

"Well, I'm trying. After all, beautiful girls are supposed to be mysterious." I said, smiling, which made her laugh.

"You're right." she replied.

"And yet... Can you take me with you, to other worlds?" Freya asked, something I didn't expect.

"Are you sure? What about this world and the people in it?" I asked. Actually, I just wasn't sure I could do it.

Although their bodies down below aren't their main bodies, wouldn't their connection with their main bodies in heaven be severed? What would happen then?

"Yes, I can't resist such a temptation, to see other dimensions. I'm even willing to sacrifice her power and her main body." Freya said rather decisively.

I just sighed.

"I won't promise anything, since I don't know if it's possible, but when I leave, we'll definitely try." I said.

"Thank you... I take it it's the same with Hestia?" Freya asked.

"Well, yes... but I'm not sure she'd even want to leave this world." I said rather awkwardly.

"Don't worry. She'd do anything for you." Freya said, surprising me.

"Oh, don't look at me like that. You know, not only can I see souls, but I can also sense their emotions. And as soon as you gave her the flowers, she was so happy, even though she didn't show it outwardly." Freya said.

"I see..." I said, then I saw Freya freeze, and a second later she looked at me.

"Evernight, what did you do to make Uranus look for you?" Freya asked.

"Who?" I repeated, trying to remember the name.

"Uranus, this is the guildmaster's god." Freya said.

"Oh... Well, you know, I let my power slide a bit, so practically every floor turned into an icy wasteland, and apparently other people reported it to the guild. When I returned, I immediately mentioned it, but I refused to speak to the guildmaster, and I think someone yelled at me to stop as I was leaving." I said.

Freya looked at me, then inhaled.

"Well, he must have been upset, since he and practically his entire family are heading here." Freya said.

"Well... Is it okay if I just kill him?" I asked.

"No, do whatever you want, I don't care about him. He'll return to his main body anyway." Freya said.

"Anyway, he's already here." she said, and headed towards the exit, and of course I went there too.
