"Do I really have to jump from here?"
Peter B. stood on a steel beam several meters above the ground in an abandoned warehouse in Brooklyn. He gulped nervously as he looked down.
He was still wearing a classic Spider-Man suit—the red-and-blue one Aunt May had lent him before they left.
In this world, Peter Parker had over a dozen suits for different periods and purposes. Knowing Peter B.'s situation, Aunt May had given him the most iconic one: the suit Peter Parker wore when he first became Spider-Man.
Peter B. was around the same age and build as this world's Peter Parker. The suit, being stretchable and form-fitting, fit him well.
"Of course!" Shadow Spider-Man stood beside him."Every Spider-Man starts like this!"
"You sound like you know a lot about Spider-Men," Peter B. muttered.
"Huh?" Shadow Spider-Man shot him a dangerous look, already raising a hand.
"Wait!" Peter B. quickly stopped him.
"What's wrong?"
"I think this test has a flaw," Peter B. said.
"Oh? How so?" chimed in Spider-Ham.
"Not every Spider-Man can shoot webs, right? What if I'm one of the types who can't? Then I jump… and bam! Smash to the ground?"
"Hmm, that's a real problem," Shadow Spider-Man acknowledged, giving Peter B. a glance.
He recalled how he had first gained his powers—bitten by a spider from a statue, meeting the Spider-God, and receiving all his abilities instantly, with no slow learning process.
Spider-Ham added: "With our body types, falling from just this height isn't really a problem."
Peter B.: ???Shadow Spider-Man: !!! That… actually makes sense!!!
"Wait!" Peter B. had to clarify again.
"What now?" Spider-Ham was eager, clearly ready to help.
"I've only had these powers for a day. What if they haven't fully manifested yet?"
Shadow Spider-Man sighed, and Spider-Ham was speechless.
"Fine, what do you suggest?" Shadow Spider-Man asked.
"Let's start with basics: combat, wall-crawling, that sort of thing," Peter B. proposed.
"Alright," Shadow Spider-Man thought for a moment and agreed.Even though the two of them were here, Peter B. could get into trouble if he attempted advanced maneuvers without powers, and training the wrong skills would waste time. Focusing on combat first was more practical.
So Shadow Spider-Man grabbed Peter B., shot a web, and swung down from the beam. Spider-Ham followed.
The three landed safely and began combat training.
Shadow Spider-Man's fighting style was similar to Marvel's Batman—he could kill if needed. His combat skills weren't fancy martial arts but practical, effective techniques suitable for a high-agility, high-damage, but resilient fighter like Spider-Man.
Though Peter B. hadn't yet manifested his abilities, Shadow Spider-Man's training was still appropriate.
By the way, Shadow Spider-Man was also skilled with guns, carrying a small revolver. Peter B., thinking of his home world, decided to focus on hand-to-hand combat first.
Spider-Ham, on the other hand, had less to teach—but not because he was weak.
Quite the opposite.
He was incredibly strong, and bizarrely, a comedic character. He could pull out a hammer the same size as himself from his pocket, then put it away. It wasn't inflatable—it was a magical wooden hammer that could shrink and enlarge at will.
No logic, just chaos.
Under the guidance of these two Spider-Men, Peter B. began his journey of developing his powers.
Meanwhile, Peni and her Spider-Mech were using the high-tech equipment in this world's Spider-Man household basement to research particle collider data related to Kin-Bin. Progress was slow; Kin-Bin had heavily protected the device.
That evening, after a day of training with both Spider-Men, Peter B. returned to Aunt May's house, feeling a bit dejected.
Despite their best efforts, either his comprehension was slow or his powers hadn't awakened yet—progress was minimal.
Shadow Spider-Man and Spider-Ham comforted him: "Everyone starts as a beginner. Learning takes time."
Unspoken: real combat is the best teacher.
Even they had learned combat skills through repeated battles, not overnight.
For some reason, Peter B.'s other powers, besides spider-sense, hadn't manifested—or perhaps they had, but no one had noticed.
Meanwhile, Peni's progress remained practically zero, bringing everything back to square one.
Aunt May comforted everyone and suggested dinner first.
Just then, there was a ring at the door.
Everyone tensed, looking toward the entrance.
"Probably just some fans again," Aunt May said, standing and heading toward the door, picking up a baseball bat as she walked.
Peter B.: Wait… she handles that like a pro?
Clang!
The bat fell to the floor, drawing attention.
Aunt May stood in the doorway, back facing them. Her body trembled slightly, showing the depth of her shock.
"Pe-Peter!"
