Qianhui:
The divine offices you and Shanjue hold now, I asked Father for.
Not because you're my sister.
Not because I owe you.
I just believed you were the best fit.
——
In those seventy years, I watched you work.
I laid out the paths of the fifteen hundred new staff.
Twelve hundred of them were yours.
What each of them had to do once in place, you had worked out first, every bit of it.
The hardest part, you never handed to your people.
You worked it out yourself first.
Only when it was simple did you hand it over.
——
The spy's books balanced.
Every batch number looked right.
You didn't stop there.
You found the source document he had split up and reused.
The detention compensation column, too.
Seventy years ago, what sat in that spot was my officers' bonus.
You replaced it without asking me.
I looked at it for a long time.
I couldn't find anything you'd changed wrong.
——
I told Father there's only one person who can stand as my equal.
That's the truth.
If you're willing, I'd like to walk on together with you.
