Ana's POV
The following week brought me a blissful stretch of tranquility. No bothersome calls from the Collin family, no exhausting household drama to navigate.
I spent the entire week holed up in my apartment, never once venturing outside. Each day found me perched by the window, sketch pad in hand, bringing new design concepts to life.
My apartment boasted an ideal position with excellent natural light. Sunlight poured through the windows from dawn onward, bathing me in golden warmth that made my future seem equally radiant.
After emailing my newest design draft to Dorian, my phone rang—the private detective.
He hadn't reached out in ages, so his unexpected call sent excitement coursing through me. Fresh leads had to be waiting. I snatched up the phone immediately.
"Ms. Watson, we've located the third witness from that night. She's currently in Veridia," he informed me.
My pulse quickened. "What's her location? I need to see her right away."
