Ana's POV
Ridley glanced down at Hughes, his voice taking on that authoritative tone he used when he wanted compliance. "Hughes, time for bed. Your mother and I need to discuss something."
I watched as Hughes's face fell slightly, but he nodded and shuffled toward the door. The kid was too obedient for his own good sometimes.
"Cut to the chase." I folded my arms across my chest, meeting Ridley's gaze with steel in my own.
"Uncle Chad's throwing a family dinner tomorrow. Get yourself ready—we're attending together," Ridley announced.
I knew the family dynamics well enough. Preston had two sons: Ridley's father Lukas, and Lukas's older brother Chad. Lukas had been stuck overseas on business for quite some time because of some Collin Group crisis. Chad had never possessed his brother's business acumen—he'd always been the family's golden boy, all charm and no substance.
