The second Jefferson mentioned the attack, my fingers were already flying across my phone screen, sending Alana a quick message. Javier had been the target this time, and judging by the frantic speed of Alana's response, she was already racing to his place. That reaction alone told me everything I needed to know about how serious this was.
Despite the current crisis swirling around us, I couldn't help but file away a mental reminder for later: these two needed to figure out they were perfect for each other. Alana might act tough as nails, but underneath all that armor, she was a complete romantic who dreamed of finding her true mate. Maybe I needed to play cupid and give fate a little push in the right direction. Starting with convincing Javier to stop acting like such a player around her.
