The bathroom air hung thick with tension as Alana and I stared at each other in stunned silence. The weight of what had just happened pressed down on us until a sharp rap on the door shattered the moment, yanking us back to reality.
Alana frantically shoved the bloodied wrap into the trash bin, her face pale with shock, while I struggled to fix my torn shirt with trembling fingers. She twisted the lock just as the door swung open, revealing Rosalyn with that familiar smirk already spreading across her lips.
Since discovering her affair with Andy and being thrust into Jefferson's dangerous world, I had managed to avoid any direct confrontation with her until now.
"Sorry to barge in," she cooed, her voice sickeningly sweet, "but nature calls. Pregnancy really wreaks havoc on your bladder, you know."
