Chapter 6 - Chapter Six

The Beginning of Chaos

The rain continued pouring heavily across Sun City long after Denzel left Harmony's apartment that night.

But somewhere else in the city, danger was already moving quietly through the darkness.

Inside a black SUV parked outside an abandoned warehouse, Victor Moretti sat calmly while listening to the man on the phone.

"We found the girl," the man repeated carefully.

Victor leaned back slowly in his seat, his expression unreadable.

"And Denzel?"

"He was with her."

A dangerous smile appeared faintly on Victor's face.

Interesting.

Very interesting.

For years, Denzel Li had been untouchable because he had no weakness. No enemies could get close enough to hurt him personally. He trusted almost nobody, loved almost nobody, and feared absolutely nothing.

But now?

Victor finally saw an opening.

"Keep watching her," he ordered calmly.

"Yes, Boss."

The call ended.

Victor stared out the window silently while one thought settled firmly in his mind.

If Harmony Jones mattered to Denzel Li…

then she could be used against him.

The next morning, Harmony woke up unusually early.

For several seconds, she simply stared at the ceiling while replaying the previous night in her head.

Denzel standing in the rain.

Denzel coming all the way just to check on her.

Denzel smiling slightly at her.

Harmony immediately buried her face into the pillow.

"What is wrong with me?" she groaned softly.

Her heart had been restless ever since meeting him.

And that terrified her.

Because people like Denzel Li didn't belong in peaceful stories.

They belonged in dangerous ones.

"Harmony?"

She quickly sat up after hearing her mother's voice from outside the room.

"I'm coming!"

A few minutes later, Harmony entered the kitchen and froze immediately.

Her mother was cooking breakfast.

"Mom!" Harmony rushed forward worriedly. "You should be resting!"

Mrs. Jones laughed weakly. "If I stay in bed any longer, I'll forget how to walk."

Harmony sighed helplessly before helping her sit down carefully.

"You're stubborn."

"And you worry too much."

Harmony smiled faintly while preparing tea.

Despite her mother acting strong, Harmony noticed how tired she looked lately. The sickness was getting worse, and the hospital bills continued piling up.

Fear quietly lived inside Harmony every single day now.

She didn't know how much longer she could keep everything together.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed on the table.

A message from Monica appeared.

Monica:

Please tell me you're coming to campus early today. Safia is already causing trouble.

Harmony laughed softly.

Harmony:

What did she do this time?

Almost immediately, another message came.

Monica:

She argued with a professor before 8am.

Harmony shook her head while smiling.

Only Safia could create chaos that early in the morning.

But before she could reply again, another message suddenly appeared underneath Monica's.

Her smile disappeared instantly.

Unknown Number.

Unknown:

Stay away from Denzel Li.

Harmony's heartbeat stopped.

She stared at the message in shock.

A second message appeared immediately afterward.

Unknown:

This is your only warning.

Fear slowly crept into her chest.

Who sent this?

How did they get her number?

And most importantly…

Why were they watching her?

At Li Corporation, tension filled the atmosphere once again.

Denzel sat inside his office reviewing security reports while Jonathan stood nearby.

Hunter walked in holding coffee before immediately noticing Denzel's mood.

"Oh, this looks bad."

Denzel didn't look up.

"Victor Moretti moved another shipment last night."

Hunter's playful expression faded instantly.

Jonathan crossed his arms. "He's preparing for something."

Denzel already knew that.

Everything happening lately felt too calculated.

The warehouse attack.

Watching Monica.

And now—

A knock interrupted the conversation.

One of Denzel's men entered nervously.

"Boss…"

Denzel lifted his eyes coldly.

"What?"

The man hesitated briefly.

"We received information this morning."

Denzel remained silent.

The man swallowed hard before continuing.

"Victor's people have been following Harmony Jones."

The room became deadly quiet.

Hunter cursed immediately.

Jonathan's expression darkened.

For several seconds, Denzel said absolutely nothing.

And somehow, that silence felt more terrifying than anger itself.

Slowly, Denzel stood up.

The dangerous calmness in his eyes made everyone uneasy.

"How long?"

"Since last night."

Hunter rubbed his forehead. "This is bad."

No one understood better than them what this meant.

Victor had discovered Harmony.

And if Victor targeted her…

Things would get ugly very quickly.

Denzel grabbed his coat calmly.

Jonathan looked at him carefully. "Where are you going?"

"To fix the problem."

Meanwhile, at the university, Harmony sat quietly beside Monica and Safia during lunch.

But unlike usual, she barely spoke.

Monica noticed immediately.

"Harmony?"

She forced a small smile. "Hm?"

"You've been quiet all morning."

Safia narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Did something happen?"

Harmony hesitated.

Part of her wanted to ignore the message completely.

But another part of her felt genuinely frightened.

Slowly, she pulled out her phone and showed them the text.

Monica's face instantly changed.

"What the hell?"

Safia looked shocked. "Who sent that?"

"I don't know."

Monica grabbed the phone immediately.

"I'm telling Denzel."

"No!" Harmony quickly stopped her. "Please don't."

Monica frowned. "Harmony, someone threatened you."

"It's probably just a prank."

But even Harmony didn't believe her own words.

Monica looked unconvinced.

Before anyone could continue the conversation, several students nearby suddenly began whispering excitedly.

Harmony frowned slightly.

"What's happening?"

Then she saw it.

Denzel Li walking across campus.

Every student immediately moved out of his way.

Some stared nervously.

Others looked completely terrified.

Denzel ignored everyone.

His eyes searched the area until they landed directly on Harmony.

And the second he saw her, he walked straight toward their table.

Safia nearly panicked.

"Oh my God."

Monica sighed dramatically. "And here comes the chaos."

Denzel stopped in front of them calmly.

"Harmony."

Even hearing her name from his mouth affected her more than it should have.

"Mr. Li."

His eyes immediately noticed the tension in her expression.

"What happened?"

Harmony hesitated.

Unfortunately, Monica answered first.

"Someone threatened her."

Denzel's face became unreadable.

"Show me."

Harmony slowly handed him the phone.

The moment Denzel read the messages, something dangerous flashed through his eyes.

A terrifying silence followed.

Then calmly, very calmly, he handed the phone back.

"From now on, you don't go anywhere alone."

Harmony blinked in surprise.

"What?"

"I'm assigning security to you."

"No," Harmony said immediately. "That's unnecessary."

"It's not a request."

His cold tone made Safia nervous instantly.

But Harmony frowned stubbornly.

"I don't need bodyguards following me everywhere."

Denzel stepped slightly closer.

"Yes," he said quietly, "you do."

For several seconds, neither of them looked away.

Monica and Safia exchanged looks silently.

The tension between them felt strangely intense.

Finally, Harmony sighed softly.

"You can't control everything, Denzel."

The way she said his name so naturally made him pause briefly.

But his expression remained firm.

"I can control this."

Before Harmony could argue again, Denzel's phone suddenly rang.

Jonathan.

Denzel answered immediately.

"What?"

Jonathan's serious voice came through instantly.

"We found Victor's location."

Denzel's eyes darkened.

"Don't move," he ordered calmly before ending the call.

Then he looked back at Harmony.

"Go home after class."

Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked away.

The second he disappeared, Safia released the breath she'd been holding.

"That man is terrifying."

Monica looked thoughtful instead.

"No," she said quietly.

"He's worried."

Later that night, inside one of Victor Moretti's underground casinos, loud music filled the atmosphere while wealthy criminals enjoyed drinks and gambling.

But the peaceful atmosphere disappeared instantly the moment the entrance doors burst open.

Denzel Li walked inside surrounded by armed men.

Panic spread immediately.

People moved away quickly.

Victor looked up slowly from his chair before smirking faintly.

"Well," he said calmly, "this is unexpected."

Denzel stopped directly in front of him.

The tension between the two mafia kings immediately filled the room.

"You're getting bold," Victor continued lazily.

Denzel's face remained emotionless.

"You threatened the wrong person."

Victor laughed quietly.

"So the girl really matters to you."

Wrong answer.

Before anyone could react, Denzel grabbed Victor violently by the collar and slammed him against the table.

Guns were instantly pulled across the room.

Chaos erupted immediately.

But Denzel never looked away from Victor.

His voice became cold enough to freeze the entire room.

"If you go near her again…" he said quietly, "I'll burn your entire empire to the ground."

For the first time that night, Victor stopped smiling.

Because deep inside—

Even he knew Denzel Li wasn't bluffing.
