Chapter 77 - Chapter 77 Audrey and the Bandits

Backland Department Store is one of the largest department stores in all of Loen. Two floors of the store are not open to the public and are only open to nobles and the wealthy.

After all, no matter how noble the nobles are or how wealthy the rich are, they all have the need to shop.

On Sunday afternoon, Audrey Hall met up with a few close friends to go shopping at a department store.

When they said their goodbyes, Audrey returned to the carriage with her maid Anne and her big dog Susie. Susie suddenly felt uneasy.

It's not fair to blame Susie for being slow to react; there was a faint perfume scent in the carriage, which affected her sense of smell.

It didn't notice anything when it first got on the train, but after lying down on the carpet, it realized there was an unfamiliar smell in the carriage.

Audrey immediately noticed Susie's unease and asked, "Susie, what's wrong?"

"Woof!"

Audrey also noticed that there were a few tiny wrinkles on the carpet, whereas they hadn't been there when they got out of the car.

Audrey immediately smiled and said, "Annie, I've decided to go buy the mirror we just looked at. We can go shopping again."

Just as she was about to get up and get out of the car, the sliding door beneath them opened rapidly, and Odis rolled out, instantly drawing her gun and pointing it at the two people and the dog opposite her.

Before Odis stood, as expected, a blonde, blue-eyed, exceptionally beautiful young lady with a pure and elegant demeanor, known as "Miss Justice."

He thought to himself: She is indeed a little too beautiful.

Anne was startled and was about to scream when Odis pointed the gun at her: "Don't scream."

Then he glanced at Susie and said, "You're not allowed to call out either."

Susie glanced at the revolver and nodded obediently, almost raising her paws.

"I have no intention of harming you; I am merely avoiding an opponent." Odis smiled.

Yes, Chibman is someone who can certainly be called a rival.

Just then, a commotion arose outside, and Chibman was leading his men, searching the area carriage by carriage.

Odis slowly slid onto the carpet, continuing to point the gun at the people and dogs opposite him.

Anne was terrified, and Susie was also trembling with fear, but Audrey remained calm and even smiled as she sized up the bandits in front of her.

As a "mind reader," she naturally realized that Odis had no ill intentions.

Moreover, she was very interested in Odis's purpose and the opponent he was evading.

This noble lady, who had always dreamed of having her own grand adventure, was experiencing something so exciting for the first time.

Someone shouted, "This is the Earl's carriage! Who dares to search it?"

Chibman and his group did not dare to continue searching. To be precise, the organization he belonged to was established by nobles, and their mission was to obey the nobles and entertain them.

Moreover, in Backlund, even extraordinary individuals dare not easily offend the nobles.

The carriage moved slowly forward, leaving the department store's parking area. Chibman and his companions only dared to observe from a distance.

At this moment, Anne seemed to realize something. She prepared to jump off the carriage and risk taking a bullet from the bandit to warn the guards outside that there were bandits in the carriage and that Miss Audrey was in danger.

But Audrey stopped her first: "Don't be impulsive, Anne."

She knew that if Anne really rushed down, things would get very bad.

Odis slowly rose and sat back down in the chair opposite them: "This lady is right. You'll be knocked unconscious before you even touch the doorknob."

Anne took a deep breath before saying, "Jesse must have been slacking off again, he didn't even notice that someone had sneaked into the carriage."

"And the guards at the department store, how come they didn't notice?"

Jesse was the coachman of that carriage.

Audrey thought to herself: Because the person in front of you is an extraordinary one, don't expect ordinary people to discover the traces of extraordinary people.

Odis joked, "I can become invisible, they can't see me."

He added, "Don't be nervous. I'll leave after we've walked a few blocks."

Audrey asked with some curiosity, "Why did they arrest you?"

"They wanted me to join their organization," Odis said frankly, "but I refused."

Audrey seemed to understand something: "Is it a mysterious organization?"

"It's not that mysterious," Odis replied. "If you use your family's connections, you can find out about them at 155 King's Road."

Audrey recalled that 155 King's Road seemed to be a fighting arena where her brother Alfred from the South Continent had once watched matches.

Then she asked, "They even threatened you with weapons?"

Odis glanced down at the wound on her chest, where Eden had stabbed her with a dagger, and smiled at Audrey, saying, "Your observation skills are quite good."

Although the knight's uniform helped him deflect the two sharp knives, it still had some damage.

Upon hearing the praise, Audrey suddenly felt that the bandit's tone, eyes, and demeanor were somewhat familiar; in fact, she had had this feeling since the beginning.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

But after thinking carefully, she couldn't recall ever seeing someone like that before.

Taking a deep breath, Audrey didn't waste this "wonderful experience" and continued, "Why are you wearing a mask?"

Odis smiled and said, "To protect you."

Audrey immediately understood and slowly nodded.

Annie, standing to the side, didn't quite understand: "Protect us?"

"Yes," Odis said, "For example, in this situation, I wouldn't need to kill you to silence you."

Annie gasped in surprise, then blurted out, "Is this the man in front of you... Huo..."

"Alright, Anne!" Audrey immediately interrupted her maid. She knew that the thugs in front of her would not be intimidated by her father's name, and Anne's intimidation would only reveal more information about herself.

Odis praised again, "What a calm and rational lady."

He paused and then said, "If I remember correctly, the family crest on the car seems to belong to the Hall family."

Odis didn't recognize any family crests, but he did know that Audrey's father was Earl Hall.

Then he smiled and said, "I had long heard that Earl Hall's daughter was very beautiful and was known as 'the most dazzling gem in Backlund,' but seeing her today, I realize that such praise is too conservative."

"Thank you," Audrey smiled. "I won't tell anyone you were on this carriage, but in return, please tell me your name."

"Lelouch." Since it's a newly created identity anyway, if any nobles cause trouble, I can simply stop using this identity.

"Yes, Mr. Lelouch," Audrey said with a smile.

Then Odis looked at Anne beside her, and Anne immediately said, "I won't tell anyone either."

"I believe you," Odis smiled. "If any nobles come looking for trouble, I will sneak into the Earl's mansion and, while you are asleep, cut off your ears and nose."

He stood up and said again, "Goodbye, ladies."

After saying this, Odis put away his gun and jumped off the carriage.

Audrey quickly went to the car window and saw Mr. Lelouch stride into a church with the "Mechanical Emblem" symbol.
