Orochimaru smiled faintly, watching the fog thicken.
"To strike first, land a hit, and not grow careless afterward… you two are troublesome prey." His tone was that of a diner critiquing a meal.
He locked onto Sasuke with a predatory gaze, then suddenly tilted his head back and opened his mouth wide.
A slimy body slid out from within—dripping thick mucus.
Sasuke froze. The grotesque sight crushed his comprehension and stalled his movement.

A palm slapped the back of Sasuke's head. Sakura appeared from behind, eyes hard.
"Don't blank out. Try to finish him in one go."
Sasuke startled. Sakura was even calmer than he was. A suffocating frustration rose in his chest.

Before he could finish, Orochimaru sped up his molt, serpent-like body sliding toward Sasuke.
His lower half had become snake. Sasuke's pupils tightened—he reacted half a beat too slow.

A clear shout sliced through the fog. A roaring dragon of water burst up, charging Orochimaru head-on.

"No. I have to save myself!" She gritted her teeth, raised her kunai, and stabbed at her own thigh.
